You Must Be Healed Sexually: Part 4 - The Money Changers

Oyez, Oyez, Oyez Daughters!

In part one of this post, I describe a dream in which I heard the words “You must be healed sexually.” Immediately following those words appeared the face of well-known, female Rhythm & Blues singer, Avery Sunshine. I thought this was a rather odd dream. However, through prayer, I endeavored to know what was being revealed. In part two,, I covered insights into the second half of the pseudonym Avery Sunshine. In part three, I juxtapose King David’s and Bathsheba’s story with my own as the "bitter tool" used to bring about repentance. Initially, I thought this would only be a two-part post. However, I have continued to hear additional insights into the words of this dream. Daughters, here’s what I received to share with you.

Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out all the people buying and selling animals for sacrifice. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves. He said to them, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves!”

Matthew 21:12-13 New Living Translation

I envision how it angered Yeshua [Jesus] to enter a Temple and see things happening in this sacred place that was never intended. This morning I heard the connection between the words “You must be healed sexually” and this aforementioned scene in the Book of Matthew. Strongs Concordance notes the Hebrew word for moneychangers is kollubistēs which means coin dealer; banker. It is associated with the word kollourion which is a composition of materials used to remedy tender eyes likened to a salve for the eyes. It is akin to the word kollaō which means to join, cement or fasten together. Why would God give me the words “You must be healed sexually” and then lead me to the scene where Yeshua turns over the tables of the moneychangers? What does being healed sexually have to do with coin dealers and foreign currency? And what is the connection to tender eyes? What causes eyes to be tender? And how is this connected to something being joined or fastened together?

The Eye Institute notes eye pain can be a symptom of various types of conditions. WebMD notes “eye discomfort can result from problems in or near parts of the eye such as the Cornea which is the clear window in the front of the eye that focuses light, the Sclera which is the whites of the eyes, the Conjunctiva which is the ultra-thin covering of your sclera and the inside of your eyelid, the Iris which is the colored part of your eye, with the pupil in the middle, the Orbit which is a bony cave (eye socket) in your skull where the eye and its muscles are located, the Extraocular muscles which rotate your eye, the Nerves which carry visual information from your eyes to your brain, and eyelids which are the outside coverings that protect and spread moisture over your eyes.” Common eye problems are inflammation and infection of various parts of the eye; bacterial and viral infections, allergies, swollen blood vessels, abrasions or scratches in the eye incurred while rubbing, dirt or irritants getting into the eye, a bump on the edge of the eyelid, fluid build-up, pressure on optical nerves, inflammation of nerves leading to the brain, pressure in the sinuses, trauma to the eye from some object, and problems with the immune system. The immune system is the defense system that protects against disease. Eyes can serve as the first line of disease detection revealing a variety of pathogens. Someone experiencing eye pain can experience decreased visibility, a feeling that something is in the eye, whether real or imagined, pain or aching in the head, sensitivity to light, nausea or vomiting, discolored eyes, tearing, and the eyes being crusted shut from a discharge. To diagnose eye pain, a doctor can use several types of examinations. A doctor can use an exam called a “Slit-lamp exam which uses bright light to look at all the structures of the eye,” or the doctor can use “Dilating Drops to expand the pupil to let the doctor see deep into the eye,” and lastly the doctor can use a “Tonometer which is a tool that measures eye pressure, and is used to diagnose glaucoma,” which is a condition of increased pressure within the eyeball, causing gradual loss of sight. As the causes of eye pain can vary, so do treatments. Some eye pain can be cured with antihistamines. New Oxford American Dictionary defines Antihistamines as “a drug or other compound that inhibits the physiological effects of histamine, used especially in the treatment of allergies. “Histamine is a compound which is released by cells in, response to injury and in allergic and inflammatory reactions, causing contraction of smooth muscle and dilation of capillaries.” On the other hand some eye pain is healed with antibacterial or antiviral eye drops, antibiotics which is “a medicine that inhibits the growth of or destroys microorganisms,” or steroids, which is “any of a large class of organic compounds with a characteristic molecular structure that include many hormones, alkaloids, and vitamins.”  Lastly, some pain heals with a warm compress, some pain heals on its own over time, and some pain only heals with surgery.

Let’s see what is outlined in scripture about different types of eye conditions and their remedies.

So if your eye—even your good eye—causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.”

My eyes are red with weeping; dark shadows circle my eyes.

My eyes are swollen with weeping, and I am but a shadow of my former self.”

Job 16:16, 17:7 New Living Translation

“However, if you do not listen to me or obey all these commands, and if you break my covenant by rejecting my decrees, treating my regulations with contempt, and refusing to obey my commands, I will punish you. I will bring sudden terrors upon you—wasting diseases and burning fevers that will cause your eyes to fail and your life to ebb away. You will plant your crops in vain because your enemies will eat them.”

Leviticus 26:14-16 New Living Translation

Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.”

And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife. Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well [caught my eye]. But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the Lord , that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.”

The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.”

1 Corinthians 12:21 New Living Translation

Much of Yeshua’s mission involved healing sick people. Consequently, in this verse below, Yeshua specifically makes a reference to demons identifying him and Yeshua silencing their ability to speak.

“And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils

[So Jesus healed many people who were sick with various diseases, and he cast out many demons]

and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.

[But because the demons knew who he was, he did not allow them to speak].”

Mark 1:34 King James Version/New Living Translation

This seemed like an odd use of the term devils. Why would there be a reference to devils in the midst of a discourse on Yeshua’s healing work? This caused me to dig a little deeper into the concept of devils. The King James version uses the term devil. While the New Living Translation uses the term demons. The King James Bible Dictionary and Strongs Concordance note the Greek word for devils is  daimonion, which is a daemonic being; a deity, divine power, spirit, or being inferior to God, but superior to men. It is also noted as an evil spirit of the messenger and ministers of the evil spirit. It is a gender neutral term derived from the Greek word Daimōn from the word daiō, meaning, to distribute fortunes. Strongs defines Daimōn as a demon or supernatural spirit of a bad nature. As I delved into the various ways in which this term has been used, Strongs Concordance notes two additional Greek words. The Greek words daimonizomai, and diabolos  mean to be vexed or under the power of a demon or a traducer, or false accuser, respectively. Diabolos is derived from the preposition dia which means through something and ballō which means to throw in a violent or intense way or cast out. Webster’s Dictionary defines the word demon as “a spirit or immaterial being, holding a middle place between men and the celestial deities of the Pagans. The ancients believed that there were good and evil demons, which had influence over the minds of men, and that these beings carried on an intercourse between men and gods, conveying the addresses of men to the gods, and divine benefits to men. Hence demons became the objects of worship. It was supposed also that human spirits, after their departure from the body, became demons, and that the souls of virtuous men, if highly purified, were exalted from demons into gods. The demons of the New Testament were supposed to be spiritual beings which vexed and tormented men. And in general, the word, in modern use, signifies an evil spirit or genius, which influences the conduct or directs the fortunes of mankind.” Therefore, we can surmise this “spirit” operates in or through a person, place or thing. The root word daimōn means to distribute fortunes. Isn’t this what the moneychangers were doing when Yeshua entered the Temple, distributing fortunes? Webster’s defines the word distribute to mean giving or dividing among two or more; to deal; to separate into classes, orders, kinds, or species. Fortune derives from the Latin word Fortuna, which is the name of a goddess personifying luck or chance. New Oxford American Dictionary defines fortune as “chance or luck as an external arbitrary force affecting human affairs; the success or failure of a person or enterprise over a period of time or in the course of a particular activity; or a large amount of money or assets.” So, were moneychangers converting foreign coins so sick and hurting people could buy birds from the dove retailers so they could present a poor sacrifice on the altar for the chance to have their diseases healed and sins forgiven?

“And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils

[So Jesus healed many people who were sick with various diseases, and he cast out many demons]

and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.

[But because the demons knew who he was, he did not allow them to speak].”

Mark 1:34 King James Version/New Living Translation

Yeshua was aware of the root cause of people's sickness and disease and was aware guilt and shame were among the primary reasons people went to the Temple. People believed this system of exchange was going to earn them forgiveness and healing for their sins. An entire economic system had been developed around disease and sin.  People weren’t even taking the time to raise their own sacrificial animals, they simply purchased animals to sacrifice.  Animals were a source of food, labor, and capital and would have therefore been a sacrifice for an owner to relinquish. However, for poor people, doves were permitted as an acceptable sacrifice. The original instruction required an unblemished young lamb. It appeared people made a decision to simply spend money on the sacrifice with the least amount of impact.  Technically speaking, sacrifice means you are giving up something of value that took time to prepare in exchange for honoring God. So, when Yeshua entered the Temple and saw the people’s flawed understanding of sacrifice and Temple worship, he cleaned house. Let's take a look at the nature of the Temple system.

“The Lord called to Moses from the Tabernacle and said to him, “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. When you present an animal as an offering to the Lord , you may take it from your herd of cattle or your flock of sheep and goats. “If the animal you present as a burnt offering is from the herd, it must be a male with no defects. Bring it to the entrance of the Tabernacle so you may be accepted by the Lord. Lay your hand on the animal’s head, and the Lord will accept its death in your place to purify you, making you right with him. Then slaughter the young bull in the Lord ’s presence, and Aaron’s sons, the priests, will present the animal’s blood by splattering it against all sides of the altar that stands at the entrance to the Tabernacle. Then skin the animal and cut it into pieces. They will arrange the pieces of the offering, including the head and fat, on the wood burning on the altar. The sons of Aaron the priest will build a wood fire on the altar. But the internal organs and the legs must first be washed with water. Then the priest will burn the entire sacrifice on the altar as a burnt offering. It is a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord . “If the animal you present as a burnt offering is from the flock, it may be either a sheep or a goat, but it must be a male with no defects. Slaughter the animal on the north side of the altar in the Lord ’s presence, and Aaron’s sons, the priests, will splatter its blood against all sides of the altar. Then cut the animal in pieces, and the priests will arrange the pieces of the offering, including the head and fat, on the wood burning on the altar. But the internal organs and the legs must first be washed with water. Then the priest will burn the entire sacrifice on the altar as a burnt offering. It is a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord . “If you present a bird as a burnt offering to the Lord, choose either a turtledove or a young pigeon. The priest will take the bird to the altar, wring off its head, and burn it on the altar. But first he must drain its blood against the side of the altar. The priest must also remove the crop and the feathers and throw them in the ashes on the east side of the altar. Then, grasping the bird by its wings, the priest will tear the bird open, but without tearing it apart. Then he will burn it as a burnt offering on the wood burning on the altar. It is a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord.”

Leviticus 1:1-17 New Living Translation

Now Let’s take a look at the types of illnesses that required ongoing Temple sacrifice.

“Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. “Any man who has a bodily discharge is ceremonially unclean. This defilement is caused by his discharge, whether the discharge continues or stops. In either case the man is unclean. Any bed on which the man with the discharge lies and anything on which he sits will be ceremonially unclean. So if you touch the man’s bed, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening. If you sit where the man with the discharge has sat, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening. If you touch the man with the discharge, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening. If the man spits on you, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening. Any saddle blanket on which the man rides will be ceremonially unclean. If you touch anything that was under the man, you will be unclean until evening. You must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening. If the man touches you without first rinsing his hands, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening. Any clay pot the man touches must be broken, and any wooden utensil he touches must be rinsed with water. “When the man with the discharge is healed, he must count off seven days for the period of purification. Then he must wash his clothes and bathe himself in fresh water, and he will be ceremonially clean. On the eighth day he must get two turtledoves or two young pigeons and come before the Lord at the entrance of the Tabernacle and give his offerings to the priest. The priest will offer one bird for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. Through this process, the priest will purify the man before the Lord for his discharge. “Whenever a man has an emission of semen, he must bathe his entire body in water, and he will remain ceremonially unclean until the next evening. Any clothing or leather with semen on it must be washed in water, and it will remain unclean until evening. After a man and a woman have sexual intercourse, they must each bathe in water, and they will remain unclean until the next evening. “Whenever a woman has her menstrual period, she will be ceremonially unclean for seven days. Anyone who touches her during that time will be unclean until evening. Anything on which the woman lies or sits during the time of her period will be unclean. If any of you touch her bed, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening. If you touch any object she has sat on, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening. This includes her bed or any other object she has sat on; you will be unclean until evening if you touch it. If a man has sexual intercourse with her and her blood touches him, her menstrual impurity will be transmitted to him. He will remain unclean for seven days, and any bed on which he lies will be unclean. “This is how you will guard the people of Israel from ceremonial uncleanness. Otherwise they would die, for their impurity would defile my Tabernacle that stands among them. These are the instructions for dealing with anyone who has a bodily discharge—a man who is unclean because of an emission of semen or a woman during her menstrual period. It applies to any man or woman who has a bodily discharge, and to a man who has sexual intercourse with a woman who is ceremonially unclean.”

Leviticus 15:2-24,31-33 New Living Translation

As you can see, the established system became perverted when people starting using the Temple for trade. Yeshua's arrival turned the religious and economic system upside down, literally and figuratively. For example, Yeshua put a mixture of spit and mud on a man’s eyes as a way of healing him and asked the man to go show himself to the priests. According to the above-referenced text, priests would have declared both Yeshua and the man he healed unclean or defiled. Yeshua admonished the teachers of religious law about their religious purity rituals and told them they were severely missing the mark in their understanding. He essentially told them they were so focused on outward symbols of worship and sacrifice that they were far from the truth. Yeshua told them the system of worship and sacrifice they created, in fact, did not please God. So what does all of this ultimately, have to do with the words, “You must be healed sexually?”

“When the time of purification is completed for either a son or a daughter, the woman must bring a one-year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or turtledove for a purification offering. She must bring her offerings to the priest at the entrance of the Tabernacle. “If a woman cannot afford to bring a lamb, she must bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons. One will be for the burnt offering and the other for the purification offering. The priest will sacrifice them to purify her, and she will be ceremonially clean.” The priest will then present them to the Lord to purify her. Then she will be ceremonially clean again after her bleeding at childbirth. These are the instructions for a woman after the birth of a son or a daughter.

Leviticus 12:6-8 New Living Translation

“[The daughter] must bring her offering to the priest at the entrance of the Tabernacle.”

The daughter was to bring both a young lamb for a burnt offering and a dove as a purification offering. What was a burnt offering? Strongs notes the Hebrew word for lamb is kebes which derives from a root word that means to dominate. It is defined as a ram just old enough to butt, as in butt heads. Lambs symbolized meekness and innocence. Smith’s Bible Dictionary notes a burnt offering is “the offering which was wholly consumed by fire on the altar, and the whole of which, except the refuse ashes "ascended" in the smoke to God. The meaning of the whole burnt offering was that which [was] the original idea of all sacrifice, the offering by the sacrificer of himself [or herself], soul and body, to God; the submission of his [or her] will to the will of the Lord.

Strongs Concordance notes the Hebrew word for priest is kôhên which means acting as a priest or layman or one who offers sacrifices. The verb kâhan means to officiate as a priest, or figuratively, to put on regalia. The Greek word for priest is hiereus and is derived from the word hieros which means sacred or holy.

The term dove and pigeon were used interchangeably. Pigeons and doves comprise the Columbidae family and include over three hundred species. Strongs notes the Hebrew word for dove is yônâh. It means the warmth of mating. It derives from the word yayin which means effervesce; vivacious, be hot, or fermented wine as implied in intoxication. The Greek word for dove is peristera which means pigeon. Doves or pigeons are migratory birds, meaning they are birds that move from one place to another each season. According to Wikipedia.org, “these birds are common and eat seeds, fruit, and plants." Pigeon is a French word that derives from the Latin word pipio, meaning peeping chick, while the word dove is a Germanic  word that refers to the bird's diving flight. "Doves and pigeons build relatively flimsy nests, often using sticks and other debris, which may be placed on trees, ledges, or the ground, depending on species. They lay one or two eggs at a time, and both parents care for the young, which leave the nest after 7–28 days. Unlike most birds, both sexes of doves and pigeons produce "crop milk" to feed to their young. Crop milk is a “secretion of the parent birds that is regurgitated to the young birds.”

The Tabernacle and doves are fundamental building blocks helping to bring clarity to the words, “You must be healed sexually.” Ôhel is the Hebrew word for Tabernacle. It derives from the word âhal  which means to be clear; to shine. Strongs Concordance defines the term as “a tent clearly conspicuous from a distance.” Browns Driver Biggs also defines Tabernacle as a dwelling, home, habitation, nomad’s tent, or sacred tent of Jehovah. Smith’s Bible Dictionary  notes the Tabernacle is also called “the sanctuary, the tabernacle of the congregation,” and the tent of meeting. Building the Tabernacle was the first instruction given to Moses following the public announcement of the Ten Commandments. The instructions given to Moses included detailed plans for erecting the Tabernacle along with a list of items the Hebrew people were to freely offer as building materials. Below is an overview of components of the Tabernacle.

“The Tabernacle; the Ark of the Covenant; the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement; all the furnishings of the Tabernacle; the table [of shewbread] and its utensils; the pure gold lampstand with all its accessories; the incense altar; the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils; the washbasin with its stand; the beautifully stitched garments—the sacred garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments for his sons to wear as they minister as priests; the anointing oil; the fragrant incense for the Holy Place. The craftsmen must make everything as I have commanded you.”

Exodus 31:7-11 New Living Translation

[Depiction of The Tabernacle]. The full story of the building of the Tabernacle can be found in the Book of Exodus chapters 25-40.

Have the people of Israel build me a holy sanctuary so I can live among them. You must build this Tabernacle and its furnishings exactly according to the pattern I will show you.”

Exodus 25:8-9 New Living Translation

As you can see in the image, at the entrance of the Tabernacle are curtains and a basin.

“He hung the curtain at the entrance of the Tabernacle, Next Moses placed the washbasin between the Tabernacle and the altar. He filled it with water so the priests could wash themselves. Moses and Aaron and Aaron’s sons used water from it to wash their hands and feet. Whenever they approached the altar and entered the Tabernacle, they washed themselves, just as the Lord had commanded Moses. Then he hung the curtains forming the courtyard around the Tabernacle and the altar. And he set up the curtain at the entrance of the courtyard. So at last Moses finished the work.”

Exodus 40:28,30-33 New Living Translation

So, what does Yeshua turning over tables and chairs of moneychangers and doves retailers in the Temple, a woman bringing an offering to the entrance of the Tabernacle, David and Bathsheba’s baby, Queen Esther and King Ahasuerus, Ruth, Orpah, Boaz, Naomi, Levi, Jacob, Leah, Rachel, Laban, Adam, Eve, a serpent, The Color Purple and Harlem Nights, and singer Avery Sunshine have to do with the words, “You must be healed sexually?”

“[The daughter] must bring her offering to the priest at the entrance of the Tabernacle.”

Leviticus 12:6b New Living Translation

Everything! The doves represent a poor daughter mating; poor meaning deficient, and lacking. The moneychangers represent go-betweens, promise dealers, and men willing to trade. The daughter attempted to convert foreign men into an offer to God. Foreign currency is men who are unbelievers. She exchanged her body and brought these poor mates before the altar of God for approval. She believed mating would be a pleasing offer for her sins. However, both she and the offering were lacking. Her temple and the offering became perverted from God’s original design. This was a pattern she repeated from her parents. She fed on the seeds, fruit, and plants her parents cultivated. Her parents produced an unclean discharge that revealed itself in the daughter. This is where David and Bathsheba’s story enters. David states in Psalm chapter 51 verses 5 and 6, “For I was born a sinner— yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there.” Through a bitter experience with a serpent, the daughter discovered the truth of her origins. She discovered she was conceived by a father and mother who violated God's original commands. This was the seed of the man and the womb of the woman that developed and bore her. Queen Esther, King Ahasuerus, Ruth, Orpah, Naomi, Levi, Jacob, Leah, Rachel, Laban, Adam, Eve, a serpent, The Color Purple, Harlem Nights, and Avery Sunshine were tangible tools designed to help the daughter understand her journey. They were ultimately tools to help the daughter reach her destiny - freedom.

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

John 8:32,36 King James Version

The Tabernacle is an allusion or metaphor for the daughter’s dwelling place or temple - her body. The daughter’s dominant position before a Holy God is to be one of meekness and innocence, and from this position, a daughter is to offer to God wholeness in her mind, body, spirit, and soul. She is her own priest. Therefore it is not required she go and see a priest. She does not conduct commerce in the holy place of her body. She does not buy or sell herself to obtain favor or love from God and men. She does not conduct transactions within her body to find a mate. She does not allow corrupt people acting like priests to offer sacrifices on her behalf. Nor does she follow corrupt priests telling her mating will forgive her sins.

The Tabernacle is God’s dwelling place, and an entrance signifies access to something. Access to the Tabernacle was denied as long as people upheld the old system. Yeshua granted daughters access. The daughter brings her whole being; her sexuality, and her life to the place where God dwells. All of this takes place inside her. Upon entering The Tabernacle, the first item the daughter sees is a wash basin. The daughter must wash her whole being; heart, mind, and body before fully entering God's dwelling place.  Everything unclean that she has touched and everything unclean that has touched her must be purged. She must wash everything that has defiled her. She must also wash off the dust, grime, and residue of every place she knowingly and unknowingly walked into sin. In ancient times, Temple priests were likened to butchers. The Temple is where people came to buy, cook, and eat meat. Pagan culture infected every part of society, as Pagan religions also offered food to their gods seeking favor. The Book of Leviticus provides more insight into animal sacrifices, clean and unclean qualifications, and priestly duties. Summarily, spending one’s life in a “slaughterhouse” is not God’s idea of worship. He designed His house to be a “house of prayer.” However, the priests turned The Creator’s house into a “den of thieves.” These “priests” of animal sacrifices were stealing things from sick and hurting people in the name of religion. However, Yeshua came to set captives free

Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn’t address a few remaining aspects of the Temple being overturned. The priests were ordained, meaning they were given authority to accept sacrifices from people in the Temple. People who have titles and seem official have a way of blocking access to truth. These priests provided access to the moneychangers and the dove retailers to set-up tables and chairs in the first place. Priests providing tables and chairs implies making these traders comfortable. I can deduce Yeshua was fully aware of this system rooted in priests providing declarations, approvals, and disapprovals of cleanness.  I believe this gave the priests a mystique of superiority. However, I believe Yeshua removed a system that placed all the power in the hands of other individuals.

I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray. But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.”

1 John 2:26-27 New Living Translation

“And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business—eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building— until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

Luke 17:28-30 New Living Translation

For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 14:17 New Living Translation

Yeshua made it clear that the economic system was flawed and that people would only have the ability to see the truth once the system was disrupted. A preoccupation with obtaining food was blocking the way to have true peace, true healing, and abundant life. How does one acquire or gain access to food? He or she either makes the food, grows it, or buys it from someone else. Either way, the economic system required some form of currency of exchange to obtain food. Some people exchanged sex, children, power, influence, etc. to obtain access to food. But Yeshua warned us that we were not to focus solely on the pursuit of food. Allowing one's temple to be perverted and used for commerce is an animalistic ritual. Animals are the only creatures designed with an insatiable appetite focused on finding food and procreating.

“During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Matthew 4:3-4 New Living Translation

“Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.”

1 Corinthians 6:18 New Living Translation

In conclusion, Yeshua revealed healing begins with desire; a sincere desire to see oneself clearly. Healing is rooted in honesty. Honesty leads to wholeness, and wholeness is healing. No temple priest had the power to make people whole. However, Yeshua sent out the twelve disciples (i.e., the instructed, the learners, the hearers, the informed, the practiced) to help people begin their healing process.

“And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.”

Matthew 10:1 King James Version

The number twelve represents the number required for a government - The Creator’s government. New Oxford American Dictionary defines government as to rule or to steer. Strongs notes the Hebrew word for twelve is shnayim. It means two, or two-fold. It is an ordinal number meaning relating to the order in a series. It derives from the word shênîy and it’s root word shânâh which means to duplicate, to repeat, or do again. Here’s where The Creator blew my mind!!! The Greek word for twelve is dōdeka which means two and ten and is derived from the Greek words duo and deka. Two and ten reveal to us that the number two is the number that represents agreement, and the number ten represents the law, statutes or commands. The Hebrew word for ten is ʻeser. It means “an accumulation to the extent of the digits.” It derives from the Hebrew word ʻâsar which means to give or take a tenth or tithe. Its root word ʻâshar means “to accumulate; to grow or causatively make oneself rich or to be rich.” Giving or taking a tenth or tithe means freely transferring possession, devoting, administering, sacrificing for a purpose The Creator’s commands or accepting, laying hold of, reaching for, or receiving The Creator’s commands.

“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!”

Matthew 10:8 New Living Translation

Therefore, two people; male and female rule, dominate, and accumulate by following The Creator’s commands. Therefore, Yeshua “sent out [male and female learners who have been instructed in The Creator’s statutes] with the ability to heal all manner of sickness and disease.” There were twelve tribes or families rescued from the Egyptian Pharoah’s system of slavery. These families or government were delivered from Pharoah’s system so they could be deprogrammed and retrained under The Creator’s government system. Strong’s notes the Hebrew word for tribe is maṭṭeh. It means a branch as an extension; also a chastening rod, a ruling scepter, “throwing a lance or a walking staff; or figuratively support for life.” Its root word comes from the word nâṭâh meaning “to stretch or spread out; or to bend away, including moral deflection.” Man and woman extend and stretch themselves to keep The Creator’s commands. These are the sacrifices that please The Creator - keeping his commands.

“And he called his twelve disciples together and began sending them out two by two, giving them authority to cast out evil spirits.”

Mark 6:7 New Living Translation

“And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.”
Matthew 4:23 New Living Translation

“And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils.”

Mark 3:14-15 King James Version

Yeshua empowered people to see themselves as priests of their own temple or body with full authority to heal themselves by moving forward with a genuine desire to be healed. Yeshua’s words were true then, and they are equally true today.

“As he entered a village there, ten men with leprosy stood at a distance, crying out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests. And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy. And Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you. [Your faith has saved you.]”

Luke 17:12-14 New Living Translation

And finally, daughters, the words, “You must be healed sexually” is The Father’s call to take His hand and be joined to Him. It is a call to return to the Garden of Eden; the womb, to be born again.

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, [or born from above] you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” “What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?” Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. [The Greek word for Spirit can also be translated wind]. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. Greek what is born of the Spirit is spirit. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You [plural] must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.” “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants [Or can see God at work in what he is doing].”

John 3:3-8,16-21  New Living Translation

For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.

1 Peter 1:23 New Living Translation

P.S. I hear The Holy Spirit saying perversion has fastened itself to daughters and have stolen the truth. Daughters have perverted their temples by trading and selling in their sacred temples for animal sacrifices. Daughters have traded with men who have used them to meet their insatiable animalistic appetites. They have been deceived. These men are thieves who have robbed daughters of God's original intent for their lives. Daughters, you didn’t create the body in which your spirit dwells, and thus do not have the authority to trade sex for the objects the traders and bankers sell. These objects are the items after which men and women lust. Because men lust after these things, they use daughters to acquire them. What immediately comes to mind is the scene in chapter 1 of the  Book of Esther where King Ahasuerus calls his wife Queen Vashti to come to his quarters so he can show off her beauty to his male officials. These men were drinking, and King Ahasuerus made certain each man had access to an unlimited supply. Vashti declined the offer to come to the King’s quarters. This angered King Ahasuerus. I realize the expositions of this text present Queen Vashi as unsubmissive toward her husband. But, I see King Ahasuerus' using his wife as a status symbol; a trophy to garner influence and ease business dealings. I did not see King Ahasuerus' love for his wife. Parading Queen Vashti in front of inebriated men lacked God's kind of love and protection. This scene reminded of domestic violence movies where a man marries a beautiful woman as a means of gaining influence and acquiring wealth. This is a perversion of God's intent for marriage. These men are rife with insecurities, only valuing power and success. Sex simply becomes a means to an end. We see this play out in sex trafficking, prostitution, strip clubs, millionaire dating services, and even amongst pastors vying for leadership positions.

As noted previously, sacrificing an animal was initially connected to a purpose: atoning for sin, purification, thanksgiving, peace, celebrating holidays, and making one feel closer to God. However, because these animals were not bred and raised by the person buying and selling. Therefore, there was no real connection to these animals. This was a purely transactional exchange lacking relationship. Similarly, people offering sacrifices to God with no real relationship is lacking. Men and women cannot buy their way into a position of favor with God or people.

I leave with you insights gleaned from a threshing floor - the place where there was a void  and where I sought to earnestly separate the truth from the lies. Daughters, I have played the roles of Eve, Leah, Ruth, Bathsheba, Vashti, Esther, Shug Avery, and Sushine. However, through God's washing process I was born again. My new name is Naomi, meaning beautifully agreeable. If you have played any role other than the role The Creator originally designed you are my daughters. I simply serve as a lamp on a lampstand shining a light with pen and mic so daughters can see their way to The King.

“No one lights a lamp and then hides it or puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house. “Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when it is unhealthy, your body is filled with darkness. Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness. If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light.”

Luke 11:33-36 New Living Translation

Do not live according to the customs of the people I am driving out before you. It is because they do these shameful things that I detest them. But I have promised you, ‘You will possess their land because I will give it to you as your possession—a land flowing with milk and honey.’ I am the Lord your God, who has set you apart from all other people. “You must therefore make a distinction between ceremonially clean and unclean animals, and between clean and unclean birds. You must not defile yourselves by eating any unclean animal or bird or creature that scurries along the ground [a serpent]. I have identified them as being unclean for you. You must be holy because I, the Lord , am holy. I have set you apart from all other people to be my very own. “Men and women among you who act as mediums or who consult the spirits of the dead must be put to death by stoning. They are guilty of a capital offense.”

Leviticus 20:23-27 New Living Translation

Tell the [Daughter of Zion], ‘Look, your King is coming to you. He is humble, riding on a donkey— riding on a donkey’s colt

The blind and the lame came to him in the Temple, and he healed them. The leading priests and the teachers of religious law saw these wonderful miracles and heard even the children in the Temple shouting, “Praise God for the Son of David.” But the leaders were indignant. They asked Jesus, “Do you hear what these children are saying?” “Yes,” Jesus replied. “Haven’t you ever read the Scriptures? For they say, ‘You have taught children and infants to give you praise.”

Matthew 21:5,14-16 New Living Translation

Train up a child in the way he[she] should go: and when he[she] is old, he will not depart from it.”

Proverbs 22:6 King James Version

We know that the law is good when used correctly. For the law was not intended for people who do what is right. It is for people who are lawless and rebellious, who are ungodly and sinful, who consider nothing sacred and defile what is holy, who kill their father or mother or commit other murders. The law is for people who are sexually immoral, or who practice homosexuality, or are slave traders, liars, promise breakers, or who do anything else that contradicts the wholesome teaching that comes from the glorious Good News entrusted to me by our blessed God.”

1 Timothy 1:8-11 New Living Translation

And so shall it be.

You Must Be Healed Sexually: Part 3

Oyez, Oyez, Oyez Daughters!

In part one of this post, I describe a dream in which I heard the words “You must be healed sexually.” Immediately following those words appeared the face of well-known, female Rhythm & Blues singer, Avery Sunshine. At first, I thought this was a rather odd dream. However, through prayer, I endeavored to know what was being revealed. In part two of the post, I covered what was revealed about the second half of the pseudonym Avery Sunshine. Initially, I thought this would only be a two-part post. However,  I continued to hear additional insights into the words of this dream. Daughters, here’s what I received to share with you.

As previously noted in my exposition of the movies The Color Purple and Harlem Nights, sex still remains one of the most effective distraction tactics against opponents at war. I hear King David’s words echo in my head.

“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”

Psalm 51:7 King James Version

In this verse, King David is lamenting over the realization of his sins. David had a man name Uriah killed. Uriah worked as a soldier in David’s army. Uriah had a wife named Bathsheba. David ordered Uriah killed because David impregnated her but wanted Uriah to return from battle to have sex with his wife so it would appear the child was conceived during Uriah’s visit home. Uriah was very loyal to David, so he declined David’s offer and stayed on the battlefield. After Uriah’s death, David experienced regret and shame for his actions. Also, the child David and Bathsheba conceived died. In his grief, David poured out his emotions in this Psalm, a sacred song.

“Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just. For I was born a sinner— yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there. [Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow]. Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me— now let me rejoice. Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. Then I will teach your ways to rebels, and they will return to you. Forgive me for shedding blood, O God who saves; then I will joyfully sing of your forgiveness. Unseal my lips, O Lord, that my mouth may praise you. You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one. You do not want a burnt offering. The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. Look with favor on Zion and help her; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Then you will be pleased with sacrifices offered in the right spirit— with burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings. Then bulls will again be sacrificed on your altar.”

Psalm 51:1-19 New Living Translation

The words “Psalms 51"  appeared in a dream. These words appeared soon after I asked God to reveal how I arrived at a place of disappointment, desperation, and divorce. I asked God to forgive me for my sins and to help others forgive me for the sins I committed against them. This was the beginning of my washing and training process on how to hear God's voice. This Psalm became a tool used to reveal God's truth; not the world’s version of the truth. His knowledge, wisdom, and insight have increased exponentially ever since.

Verse 7 captured me. “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” I heard a call to explore in more detail why David requested God purge him with Hyssop. Hyssop was being used as a metaphor and allusion expressing the effectiveness of Hyssop's cleansing ability.  At the root of David’s sin was lust, which is generally recognized as a pathway to sexual sin. However, lust is more broad reaching. But, I’ll come back to that point shortly. Webster’s Dictionary defines purge as to cleanse or purify by separating and carrying off whatever is impure, heterogeneous, foreign or superfluous; as to purge the body by evacuation; to purge the Augean stable (requiring so much effort it almost seems impossible). David requested God divide and do away with whatever did not belong in his life, in all of its varied forms. He asked God to divide and do away with whatever was unnecessary. David’s prayer to God was essentially inviting God to uproot his life. Initially, I'm sure he didn't realize the magnitude of his request. This was a request for God to do a major overhaul in every area of David’s life. There would be no detail overlooked. I believe this is why David and Bathsheba’s child did not survive. The child they conceived together was unlawful. The woman with whom he conceived the child was not his lawful wife. Therefore every action henceforth nullified their relationship. The world will say, “But it was a child. Why would God allow an innocent child to die? That seems harsh.” Yes, it does to those who do not understand the enormity and seriousness of God’s commands. Please know I am not making light of a child dying, nor am I making a case to say that every child that dies is a result of some kind of sin. Consequently, this text shows God enacting a sentence or judgment in the court of his kingdom based upon His established legislation. This is very hard to digest. I know. But I speak to you as a messenger who has experienced the depth of his insight, and the rod of his correction. Knowledge and insight can save your life. God's words have saving power. He confirms this fact in the book of Hosea which states:

“My people are being destroyed because they don’t know me.

[My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge I will also reject thee]

Since you priests refuse to know me, I refuse to recognize you as my priests.

[That thou shalt be no priest to me]

Since you have forgotten the laws of your God, I will forget to bless your children.

[Seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children]

Hosea 4:6 New Living Translation/King James Version

This verse is major! First, it confirms that God did, in fact, hear David’s prayer. His prayer was not ignored. His lamentation reached God’s heart although he had broken His heart by killing Uriah and stealing Uriah’s wife. I think it’s worth letting this realization sink in for a moment. This revelation is heavy.

David asked God to divide and do away with whatever did not belong inside of him and did not belong in his life in all of its varied forms, and he asked God to divide and do away with whatever was unnecessary.

David asked God to divide and do away with whatever did not belong inside of him and did not belong in his life in all of its varied forms, and he asked God to divide and do away with whatever was unnecessary.

David asked God to divide and do away with whatever did not belong inside of him and did not belong in his life in all of its varied forms, and he asked God to divide and do away with whatever was unnecessary.

As I reflect on this passage, I see everything that has been removed from my life. I see every unnecessary institution, ideology, belief, thing, place, person, image, desire, character, motive, and relationship fleshed out as a result of my purification process. David asked God six things before he arrived at verse 7. Let’s briefly review them.

  1. Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love.

  2. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins because I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night.

  3. Wash me clean from my guilt.

  4. Purify me from my sin because against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight.

  5. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just because I was born a sinner— yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.

  6. But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there.

We see that David asked for mercy and forgiveness, combined with a deep awareness and acknowledgment of how much he’d blown it. He confessed his failure without any excuses, flowery language or justification. It was black and white. David realized he had made a mess of his life with these choices. Period.  He acknowledged that God is serious about real honesty and transparency. He’s showing us that not telling the truth started at the time of his conception. Although the Bible does not provide specific details about David’s mother, I would consider that David discovered information about his origins at some point in his adult life. I would consider maybe his mother violated God’s command by his conception, just as he violated God’s command with conceiving a child in adultery with Bathsheba. He acknowledged that God wants the truth to be told from the place where life is created - the womb. The womb must be honest. It must be pure. Bathsheba’s womb was not honest. It was not pure. A womb is honest and pure when it is carrying the life of a child that was conceived in honesty; not deception or lust. I believe this was the merciful justice of God in David’s life. God knew the details of David’s birth. He knew the womb in which he was carried. Because God requires honesty from the beginning of where life is created and nurtured, He knew if that place was not honest and pure that everything else that followed would be a product of the beginning. We are the fruit of our beginning, and everything else that follows is exponentially multiplied.

“Now be fruitful and multiply, and repopulate the earth.”

Genesis 9:7 New Living Translation

We are the fruit of our beginning, and everything else that follows is exponentially multiplied.

We are the fruit of our beginning, and everything else that follows is exponentially multiplied.

We are the fruit of our beginning, and everything else that follows is exponentially multiplied.

Returning to the concept of lust, let’s see what God says about it.

“This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because you have poured out your lust and exposed yourself in prostitution to all your lovers, and because you have worshiped detestable idols, and because you have slaughtered your children as sacrifices to your gods, this is what I am going to do. I will gather together all your allies—the lovers with whom you have sinned, both those you loved and those you hated—and I will strip you naked in front of them so they can stare at you. I will punish you for your murder and adultery. I will cover you with blood in my jealous fury.”

“When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.”

Ephesians 4:19 (NLT)

“They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.”

Numbers 11:34 (King James Verison/KJV)

“And he called the name of that place Kibroth–hattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted.”

Easton’s Bible Dictionary  defines lust as a sinful longing; the inward sin which leads to the falling away from God. Webster’s Dictionary defines lust as an eagerness to possess or enjoy, or the lust of gain. There are several words in both the Hebrew and Greek languages for the word lust. Strongs Concordance  references the Hebrew word shrîyrûwth as twisted, as in a twisted imagination, stubbornness or inflexibility. It’s root word shârar, means to be hostile, or to be an enemy. The Hebrew word châmad means to desire or desire greatly, to delight or take pleasure in.  Brown Driver Biggs  defines the Hebrew word nephesh as the breathing substance or being, soul, the inner being of [a person], activity of the mind, the seat of emotions and passions, activity of the will, activity of the character and activity of the mind. Its root word nâphash means to refresh oneself. The Hebrew word taʼăvâh means a desire, wish, the longing of one’s heart, appetite, covetousness in the bad sense, a thing desired, or an object of desire. The Greek form of the word lust is epithumeō meaning to turn upon a thing and those who seek forbidden things and to set the heart upon a thing rightfully or otherwise. Its root word derives from two words epi, meaning towards or upon and thumos including its root word thuō meaning fierce indignation; passion as in breathing hard, wrath, boiling anger, heat, and rush to kill or sacrifice. Epithumia means a longing, craving or desire for what is forbidden. Additionally, the Greek word orexis meaning excitement of the mind that is longing after, an eager desire, appetite used in both a good and bad sense, even lawful and proper cravings or appetite for food, and also corrupt and lawful desires. The word is derived from oregomai which means to stretch one's self out in order to touch or to grasp something, to reach after or desire something, to reach out after, or to give oneself up for the love of money. The root word oros means to rise or to lift above the plain, as in lifting above a hill or mountain. Lastly, pathos, this is probably where we get the English word pathology, derives from the word paschō, pathō or penthō meaning to experience a painful sensation or impression, an affliction of the mind, emotion, a vile passion, a feeling which the mind suffers, to suffer, or to vex.

Having established clarity on lust, we have a good foundation to begin uncovering the significance of David’s request to be purged using Hyssop. Hebrew word for Hyssop is êzôwb which means a plant used for medicinal and religious purposes. The Greek form of the word Hyssop is hussōpos and means a plant used by the Hebrews in their ritual sprinklings. In the book of 1 Kings chapter 4 verse 33, Hyssop is referenced as a plant "springing out of the wall.” The plant was used for sprinkling blood on the posts of the doors of Israelite people being delivered from Pharoah's Egyptian bondage in what came to be known as Passover. This act served as a sign the Israelites would be protected from the death plague as it passed over their homes.

“Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will strike Pharaoh and the land of Egypt with one more blow. After that, Pharaoh will let you leave this country. In fact, he will be so eager to get rid of you that he will force you all to leave. Moses had announced to Pharaoh, “This is what the Lord says: At midnight tonight I will pass through the heart of Egypt. All the firstborn sons will die in every family in Egypt, from the oldest son of Pharaoh, who sits on his throne, to the oldest son of his lowliest servant girl who grinds the flour. Even the firstborn of all the livestock will die. Then a loud wail will rise throughout the land of Egypt, a wail like no one has heard before or will ever hear again. But among the Israelites it will be so peaceful that not even a dog will bark. Then you will know that the Lord makes a distinction between the Egyptians and the Israelites.”

Exodus 11:1,4-7 New Living Translation

“They are to take some of the blood and smear it on the sides and top of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the animal [unblemished sacrificial lamb].

On that night I will pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every firstborn son and firstborn male animal in the land of Egypt. I will execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt, for I am the Lord ! But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt.”

Exodus 12:17,2-13 New Living Translation

“Then Moses called all the elders of Israel together and said to them, “Go, pick out a lamb or young goat for each of your families, and slaughter the Passover animal. Drain the blood into a basin. Then take a bundle of hyssop branches and dip it into the blood. Brush the hyssop across the top and sides of the doorframes of your houses. And no one may go out through the door until morning. For the Lord will pass through the land to strike down the Egyptians. But when he sees the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe, the Lord will pass over your home. He will not permit his death angel to enter your house and strike you down. “Remember, these instructions are a permanent law that you and your descendants must observe forever. When you enter the land the Lord has promised to give you, you will continue to observe this ceremony. Then your children will ask, ‘What does this ceremony mean?’ And you will reply, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord , for he passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt. And though he struck the Egyptians, he spared our families.’” When Moses had finished speaking, all the people bowed down to the ground and worshiped. So the people of Israel did just as the Lord had commanded through Moses and Aaron. And that night at midnight, the Lord struck down all the firstborn sons in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sat on his throne, to the firstborn son of the prisoner in the dungeon. Even the firstborn of their livestock were killed. Pharaoh and all his officials and all the people of Egypt woke up during the night, and loud wailing was heard throughout the land of Egypt. There was not a single house where someone had not died.”

Exodus 12:21-30

It is paramount to note the Hyssop plant was used by the Roman soldier to give Jesus a bitter drink as he hung on the cross.

“Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture he said, “I am thirsty. A jar of sour wine [vinegar] was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. One of the soldiers, however, pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water flowed out.”

John 19:28-30,34 New Living Translation

The sour wine the soldier handed to Jesus using the Hyssop branch was vinegar mixed with gall. The vinegar was a light wine that turned acidic. The vinegar or wine was made bitter by mixing it with some other bitter substance such as myrrh, wormwood or poppy that would anesthetize the pain. Gall has several meanings all of which may have been used interchangeably in describing a type of bitterness. New Oxford American Dictionary defines gall as a substance secreted by the gallbladder, an organ beneath the liver. It is also defined as a sore made on the skin by annoyance or impatience because of a restriction or inconvenience. And, lastly, gall is defined as an abnormal growth formed on plants and trees, especially oaks, in response to the presence of insect larvae, mites, or fungi. I see this is as the origin or formation of diseases; abnormal growths or tumors, skin diseases, sexually transmitted diseases and the like because of the annoyance,  impatience, restriction, and the inconvenience of adhering to God’s commands.

“The Lord saw this and drew back, provoked to anger by his own sons and daughters. He said, ‘I will abandon them; then see what becomes of them. For they are a twisted generation, children without integrity. I will weaken them with famine, burning fever, and deadly disease. I will send the fangs of wild beasts and poisonous snakes that glide in the dust. Outside, the sword will bring death, and inside, terror will strike both young men and young women, both infants and the aged. Their vine grows from the vine of Sodom, from the vineyards of Gomorrah. Their grapes are poison, and their clusters are bitter. Their wine is the venom of serpents, the deadly poison of cobras. Look now; I myself am he! There is no other god but me! I am the one who kills and gives life; I am the one who wounds and heals; no one can be rescued from my powerful hand!”

Deuteronomy 32:19-20,24-25,32-33,39

They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.”

Matthew 27:34 King James Version

And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.”

Mark 15:23 King James Version

In a similar fashion, like the Hebrew and Greek words for lust, there are several Hebrew and Greek for the word gall. The Hebrew word for gall is mrêrâh  and mrôrâh which means bile from bitterness, poison or venom of a serpent. It derives from the word mârar  meaning to make or cause to be bitter. The prefix mar means bitterness, bitter oneself, be enraged, to be strong, bitter water or food, cry, pain, end of wickedness, of harlot’s end; to cause to trickle, a drop, flowing down, in the sense of distillation, the process of purifying a liquid by heating and cooling, or the process of extracting the essential meaning or most important aspects of something. The Hebrew word rôʼsh means a poisonous plant probably the poppy plant from its conspicuous head or generally poison including the poison of serpents. Additionally, the Hebrew word min mrôrâh means a part of bitterness, or from bitterness or out of bitterness. The origin of the preposition min comes from the Hebrew word mên meaning apart; hence a musical chord, as parted or separated into strings. The Greek word for gall is cholē and is associated with a Christian female from Corinth. I I Corinthians 1:11  notes members of Chloe’s household were divided and quarreling. The name Chloe means green or greenish hue. However, the word cholē means a poison, bile, bitter things, or an anodyne (Greek word anōdunos) meaning without pain which is not likely to provoke dissent or offense; inoffensive, often deliberately or a pain-killing drug.

Hyssop was the tool David requested to be cleansed. Hyssop was the tool used to extend Yeshua [Jesus] a drink to quench his thirst. David accepted the tool that was used to offer him bitterness. Yeshua declined the tool that was offered to quench his thirst. Bitterness was the tool used to purge everything that didn’t belong in David’s heart, mind, body, soul, life, and home.  This purging process also affected Bathsheba, David's wife. She lost a child. Bitterness was the venom left by a serpent. The sting of a serpent is deadly. The serpent hisses or whispers things in your ear that are contrary to God’s commands. The serpent was doing this beguiling dance with Adam and Eve in the garden. The man and the woman’s only task was to tend and protect the garden. However, if you want to remove a soldier or guard from his or her post how would you do that? You would distract the guard while you complete your mission of stealing, killing, and destroying. The serpent thoroughly surveyed and studied the landscape. He was very observant. He was strategic. He established the best location and time to attack and chose the guard with the least amount of strength. He saw that he could take down the weaker vessel - the woman. The serpent disarmed the woman through a seemingly harmless interaction - a conversation. Having a conversation is not sex, but for a woman, it is surely a doorway to sex. The serpent knew the man was not engaged. This is how the serpent was able to succeed in his plot to remove the garden keepers. The serpent’s tactics began with surface conversation which led to a more intimate conversation which caused the woman to spend more time with the serpent. The more time she spent with the serpent the easier it became for the serpent to twist her thoughts and her words. Now that the serpent had effectively destabilized the woman’s thought process and morals, he could effectively whisper a suggestion. The suggestion figuratively mixed a concoction like gall, the drink consumed by strong soldiers and the drink offered to those who were going to be put to death. The serpent successfully extended this bitter concoction to a suffering woman as a means alleviating her pain. What was Eve’s pain? We don’t know specifically. But we can surmise that she was learning how to tend the garden with Adam. She was learning how to navigate living with a man. The man and woman were given clear instructions. No further choice was necessary. But the serpent found a way to engage the woman in a dialogue that made her question the original instruction. The serpent knew her bewilderment was made possible by her ignorance of The Creator; the Chief musician that placed her in the garden with the man from whom she was shaped. The serpent was cunning. He was skilled in this area. The woman was naive.  She was green and inexperienced in the cunning nature of a serpent. Adam was still very new at protecting the woman and the garden. He was still learning as well. Although Adam was still learning the ropes, he was the strongest of the two in understanding the nature of navigating the garden. He was the first human The Creator placed in the garden. Naturally,  Adam was more experienced than Eve. Removing Adam and Eve from the garden is proof the woman’s innate structure was not designed to navigate the garden without Adam. The woman believed, she alone, could handle the conversation with the serpent. But the serpent was too crafty. Eve needed Adam’s experience. Adam needed to intervene so the serpent could see Eve was protected and could not manipulate her naivety. The woman needed Adam to show up and kick the serpent out of the garden!

The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?” “Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’” “You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.” The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.”

Genesis 3:1-6 New living Translation

There was and still remains only One being more powerful than both the man and the woman who can take-down the serpent.

There was and still remains only One being more powerful than both the man and the woman who can take-down the serpent.

There was and still remains only One being more powerful than both the man and the woman who can take-down the serpent.

Because the man did not protect the naive woman from the serpent, he was removed from the garden along with his wife. The man failed to teach the instructions the Creator gave him to his wife. The man knew how to identify each creature in the garden; he named them! This means he had the skills set to identify the traits of each creature. A name represents the character. Adam knew the character of each living creature in the garden. The garden illustrates that we are all connected to all living organisms on the earth. Adam’s sin was he did not follow the initial instruction. He was instructed to tend the garden, including Eve. Eve’s sin was that she did not know the character of the one who gave the instruction, and she did not stop the conversation with the serpent to allow Adam to handle the serpent. Eve’s independent spirit, a blessing in context, was a curse out of context. Eve not fully knowing the instructions or the instruction giver caused both her and Adam to fail. Daughters, if a serpent begins a conversation with you, run, don’t walk. Go and get your husband! If you are not married, run to your Heavenly Father. This triple braided chord is your protection. Never ever untie it. Never. Ironically, when The Creator put a foundation in place, there was no vegetation on the earth. From experience, we know that plants and vegetation need assistance. Some plants grow wild, but many need to be cultivated. At this realization, Adam and Eve became a team in cultivating the earth.

“This is the account of the creation of the heavens and the earth. When the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, neither wild plants nor grains were growing on the earth. For the Lord God had not yet sent rain to water the earth, and there were no people to cultivate the soil. Instead, springs came up from the ground and watered all the land. Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made. The Lord God made all sorts of trees grow up from the ground—trees that were beautiful and that produced delicious fruit. The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.” Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” So the Lord God formed from the ground all the wild animals and all the birds of the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would call them, and the man chose a name for each one. He gave names to all the livestock, all the birds of the sky, and all the wild animals. But still there was no helper just right for him. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the Lord God took out one of the man’s ribs and closed up the opening. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man. “At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’” This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.”

Genesis 2:4-9, 15-24 New Living Translation

As I reflect on the magnitude of Psalms 51, I had no clue God was going to take me on an amazing journey to experience to discover treasures in His word. Amazing! I remember saying to God "I need you to break it down to me like I'm a three." I needed God to make His words plain because I couldn't build on fairy dust. I asked God to explain to me the concept of His kingdom and the concept of faith. I believe He has delivered a million times over. The Creator’s wisdom is beyond extraordinary. Daughters, I am proof. The Creator revealed to me the sordid details of my sins and how they came to be. Now, He’s called me to share with you the gift of His knowledge, wisdom, and discernment. He’s called me to share the gift of His salvation through these expositions. Through David’s song, I see I was very naive. I was green in the matters of life, men, sexuality, and the schemes of the adversarial spirit; the serpent. Tasting forbidden fruit is very bitter. It leaves a taste in your mouth that you never want to taste again. It’s an experience you don’t want anyone else to have as well, not even your worst enemy. Jesus refused the drink. He knew just how bitter it could be. The soldiers used Hyssop branches to serve Jesus poison to quench his thirst, anguish, and grief. There is absolutely nothing about this drink that quenches anyone’s thirst or relieves suffering. Jesus [Yeshua] knew this and refused to be anesthetized with poison. He chose to endure the pain of the salvation process. Psalm 51 opening with David’s salutation, “To the Chief Musician, A Psalm of David," is a beautiful reminder that The Creator is deeply involved in the process of creating every sacred song; even the bitter ones.

A Prayer of Awareness of The Creator’s Order

And may [Yahweh, Jehovah Elohim, The Creator, I AM, Redeemer, Source of All Truth, Father of Lights, Heavenly Father, Deliver, and Shepherd]

May you continue to provide all that I need.

May you continue to let me rest in green meadows.

May you continue to lead me beside peaceful streams.

May you continue to renew my strength.

May you continue to guide me along right paths, bringing honor to your name.

Even [in the midst of the darkest valley, May you continue to help me not be afraid, please stay very close beside me.

May your rod and your staff continue to protect and comfort me.

May you continue to prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies.

May you continue to honor me by anointing my head with oil.

May you continue to allow my cup to overflow with blessings.

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will continuously pursue me all the days of my life, and May I continue to live your house, the house of Yahweh forever.

And so shall it be.

Truth And Nothing But The Truth: Step 2

Oyez, Oyez, Oyez…Save The Daughters!

A town crier dates back to the 18th century and is one who makes public pronouncements in the streets on behalf of the courts. Tradition esteems the town crier as one who rings a handbell and shouts the words “Oyez, Oyez, Oyez” before making the announcements. Oyez means “hear ye” which is a call for silence and attention. According to Wikipedia.org, the town crier tradition inspired the early beginnings of the newspaper. Thus, the term “posting a notice” derives from the town crier tradition. Temika Moore: Shining A Light With Pen And Mic is a reimagined 21st century town crier posting notices on behalf of the court of truth as commissioned by I AM, The King, The Creator, The Source, The Redeemer, and The Father to every woman asking, seeking, and knocking to know The Truth.

“And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.”

Genesis 3:4 King James Version

Daughters, in step one I noted the washing process begins with confronting pain; confronting the original wound, the original hurt or the original disappointment. This is the pathway to access The Creator’s heart. This is the doorway to repentance with a contrite heart. From this place is where your soul communes in complete transparency and honesty with a true Father. Our Heavenly Father wants you to come before him with a heart that realizes it is broken. Only you and The Creator know the depth of your pain. Only The Creator can heal the root cause of your pain. Only The Redeemer can trace your pathology to the original disease that led to your heartache. The Creator is the God who reveals!

As I noted in my initial post “How Did I Get Here?” I explained how The Source of All Truth revealed to me my pathology. He went straight to the root. He took me back to my beginnings as a little girl growing up in Philadelphia. God is amazing! If your deepest desire is to know and seek Him, He will not let you remain in ignorance. In a dream one night I walked toward a window and twisted the handle to open the blinds. Upon opening the blinds, I saw my childhood neighbor. She was standing outside the window. As I walked away from the window in the opposite direction, I saw a man standing nearby. I didn’t see his face, but I could tell he was a guide. This man said very clearly, “hurry up and get out of here. I have someone coming.” As he was making this statement, I saw my second husband standing there to my left. I then proceed into a bathroom where I am sitting in a tub bathing. While bathing I see a little girl sitting on the toilet seat facing me while I was sitting in the tub. She and I are having a conversation, and then I suddenly see my first husband on my left attempting to squeeze into the tub. It seemed like an odd dream at the time. However, it would turn out to be a breadcrumb on a trail that was leading to the answers to my original question, “how did I get here?” I needed to know why I was fighting for my marriage alone? I needed to know why I felt abandoned? I needed to know how I arrived at the point of considering divorce? I needed to know how I arrived at the point of accepting “crumbs” from a married man? I had to know how entertaining an affair even became an option for me? I needed to know why I didn’t feel loved by my husband? I needed to know why the married man lied to me about his marital situation? I needed to know why my life was falling apart? I needed to know why my husband wasn’t fighting for us? I needed to know why I felt so alone in my marriage? I just needed to know why my heart was broken and no one could fix it? Upon asking The Source of All Truth these questions, the words “Psalms 51” appeared to me in a dream. Upon waking from the dream I opened my pink bible to this passage. This is what it said.

“To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone into Bath–Sheba. Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just. For I was born a sinner— yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there. Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me— now let me rejoice. Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.

Psalms 51:1-19 New Living Translation

My heart was convicted. God was speaking directly to me. He witnessed my sin. He witnessed all the places I had been searching for Him, but to no avail. The Creator knew in whom and what I was really looking. He knew I wanted to feel love, but He knew He was the only one that could provide it in such a way that it would heal my original wound. That morning The Source of All Truth revealed himself to me. He introduced himself to me as a Father; the father I never had. He became to me what I desired most - a loving father. From that moment forward my Heavenly Father revealed to me that I needed to be “washed” so my broken heart could finally be healed by His true love. That day my Heavenly Father accepted the plea of my broken heart. He changed my mind about my life and my sin. He revealed to me the depths of what was really happening in the wilderness of my sin. He was revealing to me the spirit of His words. He was revealing truth leading me to repentance with a contrite heart. He opened my eyes to allow me to see clearly how much I hurt Him. He was no longer “the man upstairs” or an ambiguous spirit-guy in-the-sky. He revealed how low I actually thought of myself and how that contrasted with how He felt about me. There was a disconnect and He was prepping me for a long and arduous surgery. He was preparing to rebuild me. But first, He wanted me to see my sin the way He sees all sin -  as darkness, rebellion, and lawlessness. He wanted me to see what I was rebelling against, and the root issue of the laws I violated. This process opened my heart to ask The Father to forgive me, help others forgive me, and truly save me. Once I opened my mouth and told the truth about my life, confessed all my failures, and shared with Him every thought, feeling and emotion, I experienced real intimacy and became the daughter of The King.

“And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said, “My child, don’t make light of the Lord ’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you. For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.” As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Whoever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father? If God doesn’t discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children at all. Since we respected our earthly fathers who disciplined us, shouldn’t we submit even more to the discipline of the Father of our spirits, and live forever? For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness. No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward, there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.

Hebrews 12:5-11 New Living Translation

When you don’t know the Creator’s commands you lose things. When you violate His commands you die; figuratively and literally. Your death can either be immediate or protracted. Either way, the result of sin is death. The death of trust, peace, joy, respect, love, faith, hope, dreams, prosperity, and everything you deem valuable. Death is final. You can never go back to who you were before. You can only become a new person that now possesses new knowledge of both good and evil. You now carry the burden of having this new level of knowledge. Our sister Eve’s experience still speaks to us today. I’m sure she looked back many days beating herself up for entertaining a conversation with the serpent. She probably looked back ruminating for years wishing she had really understood The Creator’s instruction about not eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. In hindsight, I’m sure Eve wished she hadn’t relied on Adam to know The Creator’s instructions. I’m sure she wished she would have known how cunning and deceptive an adversarial spirit can be. I’m sure she wished she knew the depths that an adversary can go to destroy you and those you love. I’m sure Eve felt the gravity of her experience when she and Adam were escorted out of the Garden of Eden because of disobedience. I’m sure she often lamented in retrospect thinking about the life she and Adam had before that fatal day the serpent planned his attack. It’s not fruitful to look back. Lot’s wife turning into a pillar of salt after looking back while fleeing Sodom and Gomorrah is proof that looking back causes further loss. However, our Heavenly Father is a strategic thinker and planner. He knows the beginning from the end. He knew us in our mother’s wombs, and He knew who would be called to be his children. The fall of Eve and Adam in the Garden is an image of the consequences of only “hearing” The Creator’s words, but not fully knowing them. Ignorance, naivety, and reliance upon another person to provide or interpret The Creator’s instructions is a doorway to beguilement from an adversarial spirit. Daughters, today, please hear these words and do not harden your hearts. This is your alarm. Wake up to the beguiling nature of sin. It often arrives cloaked as harmless, and uniquely crafted to appeal to your deepest desires. Eve’s descent began with a conversation. Seemingly innocent conversations are time-tested entryways for an adversarial spirit. This is why Yeshua is so very vital to redemption. Yeshua became a mediator for the fallen. He became a mediator for the beguiled. In a court of law, a mediator is one who moderates the conversation of two opposing parties. The mediator knows the facts of the case, and expertly guides open communication to help both parties arrive at an agreement. This mediation process amends the death pronouncement. A new life is available. Therefore, every daughter in the midst of a beguiling conversation has a highly qualified arbiter working toward a sustaining agreement with The Creator.

Agree with The Creator. Agree to be washed. Receive your redemption. Agree to The Creator’s terms. Receive your healing.

Agree with The Creator. Agree to be washed. Receive your redemption. Agree to The Creator’s terms. Receive your healing.

Agree with The Creator. Agree to be washed. Receive your redemption. Agree to The Creator’s terms. Receive your healing.

When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he sounds the alarm to warn the people. Then if those who hear the alarm refuse to take action, it is their own fault if they die. They heard the alarm but ignored it, so the responsibility is theirs. If they had listened to the warning, they could have saved their lives. But if the watchman sees the enemy coming and doesn’t sound the alarm to warn the people, he is responsible for their captivity. They will die in their sins, but I will hold the watchman responsible for their deaths.’ “Now, son of man, I am making you a watchman for the people of Israel. Therefore, listen to what I say and warn them for me. If I announce that some wicked people are sure to die and you fail to tell them to change their ways, then they will die in their sins, and I will hold you responsible for their deaths. But if you warn them to repent and they don’t repent, they will die in their sins, but you will have saved yourself. “Son of man, give the people of Israel this message: You are saying, ‘Our sins are heavy upon us; we are wasting away! How can we survive?’ As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord , I take no pleasure in the death of wicked people. I only want them to turn from their wicked ways so they can live. Turn! Turn from your wickedness, O people of Israel! Why should you die? “Son of man, give your people this message: The righteous behavior of righteous people will not save them if they turn to sin, nor will the wicked behavior of wicked people destroy them if they repent and turn from their sins. When I tell righteous people that they will live, but then they sin, expecting their past righteousness to save them, then none of their righteous acts will be remembered. I will destroy them for their sins. And suppose I tell some wicked people that they will surely die, but then they turn from their sins and do what is just and right. For instance, they might give back a debtor’s security, return what they have stolen, and obey my life-giving laws, no longer doing what is evil. If they do this, then they will surely live and not die. None of their past sins will be brought up again, for they have done what is just and right, and they will surely live. O people of Israel, you are saying, ‘The Lord isn’t doing what’s right.’ But I judge each of you according to your deeds.” But if wicked people turn from their wickedness and do what is just and right, they will live. “Your people are saying, ‘The Lord isn’t doing what’s right,’ but it is they who are not doing what’s right. For again I say, when righteous people turn away from their righteous behavior and turn to evil, they will die. 'When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he sounds the alarm to warn the people. Then if those who hear the alarm refuse to take action, it is their own fault if they die. They heard the alarm but ignored it, so the responsibility is theirs. If they had listened to the warning, they could have saved their lives. “Son of man, your people talk about you in their houses and whisper about you at the doors. They say to each other, ‘Come on, let’s go hear the prophet tell us what the Lord is saying!’ So my people come pretending to be sincere and sit before you. They listen to your words, but they have no intention of doing what you say. Their mouths are full of lustful words, and their hearts seek only after money. You are very entertaining to them, like someone who sings love songs with a beautiful voice or plays fine music on an instrument. They hear what you say, but they don’t act on it! But when all these terrible things happen to them—as they certainly will—then they will know a prophet has been among them.”

So Others May Eat: Letter 3

Oyez, Oyez, Oyez…Save The Daughters!

A town crier dates back to the 18th century, and is one who makes public pronouncements in the streets on behalf of the courts.

In a dream one night I heard the words “Temika, you are broken. You need help.” These were the words I heard after getting engaged for a second time. At the time I did not have a full interpretation of this dream. It would take almost four years for me to understand fully why I had that dream and what it meant. I will reveal to you what The Source of All Truth revealed to me about that engagement, along with insights on my marriage(s) in an upcoming post. However, on January 6, 2019, the Holy Spirit directed me to write this post. The Creator, Source of All Truth is serious about rescuing and redeeming women from the original curse brought about by naivety and the subtlety of deception.  I heard in my spirit these words, “the adversary’s reign is done.” I also heard the words “It is finished.” The Source of All Truth was leading me to remove the powers of shame, guilt, condemnation, and darkness by “displaying my sin on a cross” for all to see in the same manner Yeshua was hung on a cross; bloody, beaten and battered for all to see. Sin is not pretty. Sin is costly. Sin is a bloody business. Sin is death. Death can be short or it can be protracted. But the fact still remains, sin has a judgment day. The Creator’s words are true. His written word, as outlined in the book we know as the Bible, is a tool for restoring the earth to the original state The Creator intended.

“Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us [the] truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 The Message Version

In my deliverance, I have been purposed with helping to deliver others. I am likened to the abolitionist Harriet Tubman leading those who desire to escape the bondage of living in the lower states to living in the freedom of the higher states. The business of rescue often involves risking one’s life to save others. Over the next several posts you will have an opportunity to glean my process of repentance, deliverance, and redemption. These posts are entitled, So Others Might Eat. The Hebrew word for “eat” is ʼâkal. It means to consume, take in, digest, devour, and slay. I share The Creator’s instructions, words, revelations, insights, unveiling, and discoveries for the benefit of providing sustenance to anyone who is hungry. A feast has been prepared. The table is set. Through these posts, you are invited to dine with the presence of a Holy Creator. This is Holy Communion. Bread will be broken (i.e. God’s word’s divided, separated, and processed), and wine shared (i.e. the fruit of character produced by being pressed into digestible liquid form), all done in remembrance of the Savior and Deliverer, Yeshua/Jesus/Immanuel/Son of Man/The Anointed, and Sacrificial Teacher.

Hello:

I am reaching out to you because The Most High God said that all of his commandments are on display in following these two instructions:

1. Love God with all your will, intellect and emotions; AND

2. Love your neighbor as yourself.

Matthew 22:37-40 New Living Translation

He said if we do these two things, we have actually fulfilled all of his commandments. He also said to “owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another.” Romans 13:8 (New Living Translation) Well, my brother, my neighbor, I have a debt I must pay to you. I am heavy with the weight of carrying this message, so I will cut to the chase.

I’ll be brief. No harm intended. I’m just following an instruction. I asked God a question over 7 years  ago about some things. He’s been answering my question(s). In a round about way he’s shown me things about life, choices and what is acceptable before Him. He’s taken me on an extremely windy path to get to the root of my path(ology). I know this was decades upon decades ago. But I was young, dumb and naive. Naive and inexperienced with understanding the psyche of young men. At any rate, the moral of the story is a brief kiss or other touching behavior between us between us a kids or teenagers was not appropriate and God wants me to wash away what was not His best. I feel the tremendous weight of having carried the shame of it and my neighbor, I owe you my deepest, sincerest apology. The Lord took me on a long road to help me answer some questions. I also didn’t realize the magnitude of the concept of daddy issues and He took me right to the root and has been digging up everything.  This is how and I why I was lead to you. These self-inflicted wounds were buried and now they are no longer buried. I humbly ask for your forgiveness. If you are not at that place. I understand. It’s been a process for me to ask for forgiveness, forgiving others and hella hard for me to forgive myself. I couldn’t figure out why I was doing or going places that were against what I really desired - love. I apologize for participating in inappropriate intimate behavior as a young girl with you. I know all of this is black history, and that many decades have passed. But I remember feeling a level of shame about my interactions with young men as a young woman. I wasn’t promiscuous as I was told the word is defined. However, The Lord has shown me promiscuity doesn’t always look like a person being sexually active with many people. Promiscuity can be having too many inappropriate interactions with people or simply having too many people touch you. I just remember being in or experiencing inappropriate interactions with young men in my ignorant search for validation, love and value. I somehow was looking for love, ignorantly not knowing what that really looked like. I was naive in many respects as a young woman. I wasn’t very experienced in dating and didn’t really understand the male psyche as a teenager. Nonetheless, I believe I may have carried a certain amount of sadness about being touched by people other than my God ordained mate. Even something seemingly as small as a kiss or touch. But here I am, doing my best to clear the way from my own trauma and history. Whatever environment was established even as a young person can set a tone for our lives unbeknownst to us. But God doesn’t care how long it’s been since a character infraction. He wants all forms of darkness held up to the light. He asked me to do some really humbling things in His process of teaching me His standard. Very very humbling. He asked me to make my story public and post it. That was hard but I did and I’m finalizing the last instructions he gave me. I hope this finds you well. I just wanted to say that.  I am humbled and his standards are clear. He is pouring a new foundation. Holiness involves being honest and transparent and following His ways and I am doing this the best way I know how. He says any form of sexual behavior, even the “small things” society has desensitized us to that are outside of his parameters is unacceptable and he doesn’t care what age it occurred. He wants it confessed and held to his light to be washed clean. He’s shown me a lot of things. Again, I’m sorry for not holding up His standard and participating in that form of darkness. I apologize for how my ignorance of God’s true standards impacted you. When you know His standards, you don’t participate in situations like this. You know better, you do better. I’m sincerely sorry. I have an extreme hate for the places of my past. That’s what The Truth (God) wants for us all leading us to true repentance. Please forgive me. If I had done better, I would have been protecting us both from a form of darkness by not participating.  This is truth. Be well.

I keep hearing in my spirit, “God is not playing.” He is not playing with us as people. He wants all darkness uprooted, dealt with and crucified. From experience, this is extremely hard. My soul is so tired from doing the work to heal that I can’t tell you how I just want to go and be silent away from all kinds of noise because the heaviness of the places of our past attaches to us and wreaks all kinds of havoc. He also showed me all us have some kind of darkness be it large or small that we’ve buried. This can block even hearing or knowing that He speaks. He speaks!!!!! My God does He speak. I had to share that with you. It’s humbling to go back through your life and be forced to look at things, especially things that were buried deep. But when we ask Him a question, He promises to answer and give an abundance of wisdom. That He has done. He keeps His promises. So, I’m doing my best to honor what He tells me about me, life and others and to share it with a person if they are in a place to receive what He gives me. I hope this message has landed in a soft heart, open spirit, or on the path to freedom and truth.

And so it shall be.

“Be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today. Then you will live and multiply, and you will enter and occupy the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors. Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands. Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

Fam:

I am reaching out to you because I love you. I love you as my family member, brother, and or sister in the family of believers. I love you because The Most High God said that all of his commandments are on display for ALL people to see in following these two instructions:

1. Love God with all your will, intellect and emotions; AND

2. Love your neighbor as yourself.

Matthew 22:37-40 New Living Translation

He said if we do these two things, we have actually fulfilled all of his commandments. He also said to “owe nothing to anyone - except for your obligation to love one another.” Romans 13:8 (New Living Translation) Well, I have a debt I must pay to you. I am heavy with the weight of carrying this message, so I will cut to the chase.

I heard the word “inappropriate.”

I saw two dogs; one dark and one light. They were both females. The dark one started making humping motions toward the light one. Shortly thereafter, the light one started to do the same. Both dark and light had been infested.

I heard The Most High God show me an illustration through what he created; the night sky and the stars. As I stepped out of a light blue vehicle feeling heavy from sharing information that I was instructed to publicly share via the inter-network or internal network aka the internet, I was standing outside the light blue vehicle in front of a dwelling place. He told me “this is the fulfilment of the cross - sin being manifested (the infestation of man) hanging, on display for everyone to see. I weeped.

He also said now you will know my true name - The Truth. I am going to replace every instance of the word God moving forward in this message with the word - The Truth.

As I weeped in that moment with the weight of the image of all our sins, especially my sins on display for all to see, he immediately encouraged me and led me to look up into the dark, deep blue night sky. I saw stars sparkling like never before. He said to me my stars are lights that light up the darkness. As I looked up at the sky and saw the enduring night sky, He said darkness is vast, it is deep. It is far reaching. My stars glisten amongst the expanse of the darkness. What resonated in my soul bringing me to joy is the confirmation He gave me that he was pouring a new foundation, a new creation, and that I am a part of the light he has placed in the deep, dark night sky.

After He confirmed his message, he revealed to me and assigned me to write this message for my family, my friends, my neighbors, and for you. Disclaimer: The Truth is holy. Holy means sacred place or thing; dedicated. The Truth is sacred. The truth is a place (i.e. a state of being or destination). The truth is dedicated (i.e. resolute, determined, unwavering, enthusiastic, keen, earnest, passionate, fervent).  One thing The Truth is not, is indifferent. The Truth is hardcore. The Truth takes a clear stance and holds its ground. With that being said, the foundation has been poured for me to move to the next word.

The Truth is sending  or has sent a mighty wind. Wind is a resemblance of breath. Breath comes from someone that is living. Wind can be sensible or it can be violent. But it is an expression and function. The intent of this message will only be known to the person who receives this wind.

Back to the word I heard - “inappropriate.” I was sent on a windy road which led me to uncover the origin of the word molest. Molest is a 14th Century word that means to trouble, grief or vexation (annoyance, irritation, exasperation, anger, crossness, disgruntled, bad mood, aggravation). It derives from an Old French word molester and from a Latin word molestare meaning to disturb, trouble, annoy,’ from the word molestus meaning troublesome, perhaps related to moles or the word mass which is a burden or barrier. Molest as we know it today, relating to sexual assault did not come into use until the 1950.’s

This leads me to the point. All of the above-referenced manifestations (infestation of man) are bad fruits; or bad spirits. Fruit is what you enjoy, what you produce, what you develop, and what you use; its hanging off of you for all to see. Matthew 7:16 (7 meaning complete: 16 meaning love) says that you can identify them (i.e. people) by their fruit, that is by the way they act. Trouble, grief or vexation (annoyance, irritation, exasperation, anger, crossness, disgruntled, bad mood, aggravation) are manifestations (infestation of man) of a spirit that has not received The Truth. “They come out at night, snarling like vicious dogs as they prowl the streets.” (Psalms 59:6). The enemy or spirit that is against The Truth comes out during dark times and like a vicious dog, it prowls. When a being is “prowling” it is  searching in stealth mode (i.e. in secret).

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil (an adversary against The Truth). He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour (i.e. consume, destroy, engulf, swallow up, take in greedily with the senses or intellect). Devour comes from the Latin word devorare which means to swallow down. Dark spirits swallow you down. Dark spirits are on the prowl to consume or swallow down The Truth.

This spirit that is against The Truth can enter a dwelling place (i.e. where you live; your place of being or living). Dwelling comes from the Old English word dwellen which means to mislead or deceive. Originally it meant to make a fool of or lead astray. There are other languages from which this words derives that define dwelling as delay, sleep, to stun, perplex, out in trance, or stupor, madness, error, heresy, linger, dwell upon which ultimately lead to defining the word to mean “to make a home.” These bad fruits or spirits enter a person’s home, place of being or place of living by the vehicle of secrets. The Truth is an open, shining light on a path illuminating the way to stay straight, pure and certain - holy.

I am deeply humbled to share this. But this is the second of 3 instructions or mighty winds the The Truth has asked me to deliver to people who would inherit freedom from captivity; or who are being hindered. Although these occurrences happened somewhere between birth and 8 years old, The Truth sent a messenger to open the blinds so I could see my way clearly. This is why The Truth keeps reiterating that we are all connected. Your character infraction or mine (sin) affects us all. No one is isolated from the penalty of sin. Each character infraction, no matter what kind has the same penalty. If you lie, steal people, things or or trust, cheat, curse your parents, sleep with animals or many people, have orgies, fondle children, abandon your children, deny your children, sacrifice your children, murder anyone, watch porn, strip, have affairs, eat too much, drink too much, love money, hate people, had abortions, had sexual or inappropriate relations with people of the same and/or opposite gender, rearranging your originally created gender, dabbled with witches and cults, cast spells on someone, communed with evil spirits of any kind, mediums, psychics, magicians and anything that is associated with darkness, The Truth says the penalty for ALL character infractions (sin) is death. It can be spiritual and or physical. Everyone’s brand or choice of darkness may look a little different. But The Truth maintains that darkness is darkness. In The Truth there is only light. There is NO, absolutely and resolutely NO darkness in the holy presence of the Truth. The Truth is firm. The Truth maintains today in the year 2019, tomorrow and in the future. The Truth does not and will never change. So, if The Truth will not change; then we must.

When I was a little girl a spirit came into my home. That spirit was unclean. It was carrying some kind of darkness. That darkness manifested (infestation of man) itself in the form of inappropriate touching. I was inappropriately touched by someone my parent was seeing. I was inappropriately touched by a neighbor and two cousins. I did not say sexually assaulted. Inappropriate is inappropriate; just as two female dogs humping one another. I never said anything until yesterday at the leading of spirit of The Truth. Since we were children, I figured maybe these were just normal childhood occurrences of exploration. So I never thought too much about it. Maybe I was desensitized. In my childhood mind I thought it was normal. That would then manifest (infestation of man) itself in my interactions with people later in life that would cause me to adjust to accept some things as “normal.” I explained what happened to my family and then went on to explain the things manifested (infestation of man) itself in me inappropriately touching my family members: brother, cousins, neighbors kids, and eventually inappropriate touching of someone else’s spouse, not once but twice. I did not say I sexually assaulted anyone. Inappropriate can be vast. It can be humping each other like two female dogs mimicking the actions of a sexual encounter, it can mean hearing or seeing something lude, it can mean fondling, kissing, simply just doing or saying things that are simply not appropriate because you are a child and you are experiencing them with a family member. Inappropriate behavior of any kind is unacceptable to The Truth, and The Truth does not care how long it’s been since the character infraction-sin. He wants it lifted up to be visible to the light so you can see it clearly. So everyone can see it clearly. This is transparency. This is light. This is the essence of the character of The Truth. Once that occurs there is no longer a doorway for a spirit that is dark or a spirit that is against The Truth to “dwell” in you. The secret is out. The dark spirit has no power to destroy you, your life or your family. This is what it means to be pure in heart (mind) and to have a clear conscience before The Truth. You can’t shame a person who has already lifted up the sin to be visible by a transparent light. The Truth says there is no condemnation, shame, guilt or heavy spirit about your character infraction - once you lift it up to the light of transparency and out of the torment of secrecy. Most importantly, it is out the enemy’s reach to use it against you.

I feel the deep heaviness of my childhood character infraction - sin. Yes, I was a little kid, but I still feel the weight of darkness. This is what The Truth wants to deliver us from. I have labored in following The Truth’s instruction to me and my pilgrimage. I wish I could articulate how tired my soul is from doing this work. It’s so tired I don’t have the capacity to care about whether or not I will look bad or raise eyebrows. I am submitted to The Truth. The Truth costs. It is not cheap. It will never be cheap. But I am running a race to honor the true intentions of a high and elevated way of living and thinking. It is not popular and it is not easy. But I live in love, and this is a requirement or mandate of love - The Truth.

I ask for your forgiveness. I ask for your mercy in violating trust. I pray my character infraction - sin has not caused you or your child to dwell in torment because of my ignorance. When we sin, we are acting either in willful intention or ignorance. I don’t want to be ignorant so I search and thirst for The Truth in ALL things. I pray this does no cause upset to your home. The Truth knows me, and he knows you and your child. He is faithful. He is just. He is our high and lifted up Father/Creator that is living, thinking and doing things on another level. This is what we all are striving for - heaven. Heaven is an elevated way of thinking, living and doing on another level. May you find your way to the Father/Creator/The Truth to live on earth as it is in Heaven.

And so it shall be.

Be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today. Then you will live and multiply, and you will enter and occupy the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors. Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands. Hello:

I am reaching out to you because I love you. I love you as my sister. I love you because The Most High God said that all of his commandments are on display in following these two instructions:

1. Love God with all your will, intellect and emotions; AND

2. Love your neighbor as yourself.

Matthew 22:37-40 New Living Translation

He said if we do these two things, we have actually fulfilled all of his commandments. I am heavy with the weight of carrying this message, so I will cut to the chase.

Many years ago, in my ignorance and my own trauma and unresolved pain I had an affair with your spouse. It was the darkest period of my life. As a former spouse myself, I know you know the darkness and pain of an empty or failing marriage. That emptiness and darkness can lead one to places they never thought they would find themselves; even those who “seem” like they are believers in the true and living God. Well, I believed I was. But I wasn’t. When you love God with all your will, intellect and emotions, you don’t have an affair; you go to The Most High God when you can’t get your spouse to “see you” or talk to you. I failed. I remember going to my spouse to tell him I was feeling vulnerable the moment I realized I was in dangerous and inappropriate territory with your spouse. I was hoping my spouse could help save our marriage. I was hoping he could save me from the loneliness I was feeling in our marriage. Crickets is what I got. I remember the only thing he asked me was “Did you sleep with him?” I said do you want to go down this path? I will tell you whatever you want to know; I will not lie to you. I asked, however, are you ready to do the same with me? Once again it was crickets. I was told “whatever you’ve done is between you and God and whatever I’ve done is between me and God.” That was the beginning of the end of our marriage and it took less than a year from that point to unravel. It unraveled because it was never built on the right foundation in the first place. A crack in the foundation will eventually give way; even it takes 20 years for it to be demolished. I say all this to say, The Most High God is amazing. He knew us in our mother’s womb. So he knew the trials we’d bear. It has been an arduous process to come full circle to heal the original traumas that led to the darkness that opened a door for me to have an affair with your spouse. I am deeply saddened at the depth of my sin and how I hurt you, my neighbor, my sister.

My sister, with everything in me and with tremendous humility given by the spirit of the true and living God, I ask for your forgiveness and your family’s forgiveness. I know it has been many years and I have no desire to cause upset in your home. I want to share with you what The Most High God told me through the experience of failing. The Lord is serious about establishing his kingdom on earth. He is very serious about calling people to a higher standard. He says you will reap what you sow. He is real and that statement is true. He does not care how long it has been since you committed an infraction of character - sin. He will call everyone that seeks after him to the mat. He calls our consciences to be pure and clear before him so we can hear him speak. My God does he speak!!!!!!!! And his words are clear and it is sharper than a two edged sword; cutting through the very heart of the way in which a person is built. I’m analytical and I ask God to show me how  I had gotten to the state that I would  accept the crumbs of an affair. Clearly, I was broken and did not know the truth. He is true when he says when the spirit of truth comes, it will teach you what you need to know and that truth will set you free.

One night in my sleep while dreaming, I was told to read Psalms 51. My God was he speaking loud and clear! Read it when you have a moment. It will make things clear. I had read many Psalms in my life, but never saw that one; neither had I ever received a clearer instruction.  It was clear what he was asking me to do. Repent - change your mind about your sin. See it as I see it. He hates sin. I hate my sin. Did I say hate? I am repulsed by the fact that darkness was in me, although I thought I was a “good person.” But he says if you come to me he is faithful to cleanse us of unrighteousness and set us on a firm foundation. He has been doing that and it has culminated in the last instruction he is requiring of me before I can close the door to the ways in which an adversarial spirit would attempt to use against me to put me in a dark, shameful, condemned regretful place. These are the emotions that provide a doorway for the enemy to temp us. He showed me no one is exempt from temptation; even the so called “good people.”

Please forgive me for my ignorance. Please forgive me for my lack of love. Please forgive me for hurting you. Please forgive me for stealing. Please forgive me for participating in a process an adversarial spirit uses to steal trust in relationships. We are all connected. What one person does, does in fact affect other people even if the world says it doesn’t matter. It does matter. If we want to live in peace with ourselves, our spouses, our families and God we must draw close to him to search, know and experience real intimacy with God. Intimacy with God draws you to him and not the arms of another person who is not your spouse. These were his instructions to me. My marriage did not end because of this affair.  The affair was a conduit, and your spouse was as a messenger; an angel. An angel is a messenger; be it good or bad. It is my hope your marriage is in a good place, healed or in the process of healing. I hope this message strengthens you. I don’t know if you should share my contact with you through this message with your spouse. I defer to the spirit of God to help you navigate that terrain. It is my hope peace and love will  prevail and will endure. It is my prayer your heart can receive my apology. If not, I understand. Forgiveness is a process. God says he is faithful to forgive us of all of our sins. However, he wants us to know the healing process is delayed or held up the longer we take. I know this from first hand experience. I’ve had to do a lot of forgiving of my parents, family members, and myself. This is where it has most difficult because I never thought I was capable of falling so low or failing so miserably. I am, and I did. So, I send this message to you in humble sincerity and thankfulness that The Most High God loved me enough to rescue me from ignorance so that I might share this with you. It’s been painful. But I’m thankful that God can restore truth to lives. He can rebuild broken and cracked foundations. I held in my heart maybe one day my husband would soften his heart toward God as well and repair what was broken from the beginning that led us to the dark place. I don’t know. But I see all of us through a different lens. God is extremely patient with us and wants all of us to come into the knowledge of who He truly is. It’s a process. I pray I have reached out to you at a time in your life and in the part of your life process that can receive these words with the spirit of me and God’s intent - love.

He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.”

How Did I Get Here?

Oyez, Oyez, Oyez…Save The Daughters!

A town crier dates back to the 18th century, and is one who makes public pronouncements in the streets on behalf of the courts.

Introduction

In a dream one night I heard the words “Temika, you are broken. You need help.” These were the words I heard after getting engaged for a second time. At the time I did not have a full interpretation of this dream. It would take almost four years for me to understand fully why I had that dream and what it meant. In future posts, I will reveal to you what The Source of All Truth revealed to me about that engagement along with many other insights about my pilgrimage. However, on January 6, 2019, the Holy Spirit directed me to write three specific posts about my experience. The Creator, Source of All Truth is serious about rescuing and redeeming women from the original curse brought about by naivety and the subtlety of deception.  I heard in my spirit these words, “the adversary’s reign is done.” I also heard the words “It is finished.” The Source of All Truth was leading me to remove the powers of shame, guilt, condemnation, and darkness by “displaying my sin on a cross” for all to see in the manner of which Yeshua was on display; bloody, beaten and battered for all to see. Sin is not pretty. Sin is costly. Sin is a bloody business. Sin is death. Death can be short or it can be protracted. But the fact still remains, sin has a judgment day. The Creator’s words are true. His written word, as outlined in the book we know as the Bible, is a tool for restoring the earth to its original state, the way The Creator intended.

In my deliverance, I have been purposed to help deliver others. I must be honest. I am embarking upon this calling with uncertainty, apprehension, knees knocking, and heart pounding. I am likened to the abolitionist Harriet Tubman leading those who desire to escape the bondage of living in the lower states to living in the freedom of the higher states. The business of rescue often involves risking one’s life to save others. You have been invited to glean my process of repentance, deliverance, and redemption. My first post is entitled “How Did I Get Here?" This initial post is part of a series entitled “Daughters of Naomi.” Its purpose is so women may eat. The Hebrew word for “eat” is ʼâkal. It means to consume, take in, digest, devour, and slay with a sword. In these posts, I share The Creator’s instructions, words, revelations, insights, unveiling, and discoveries for the benefit of providing sustenance to anyone who is hungry. A feast has been prepared. The table is set. Through these posts, you are invited to dine with the presence of a Holy Creator. This is Holy Communion. Bread will be broken (i.e. God’s word’s divided, separated, and processed), and wine shared (i.e. the fruit of character produced by being pressed into liquid form), all done in remembrance of the Savior and Deliverer, Yeshua/Jesus/Immanuel/Son of Man/The Anointed, and Sacrificial Teacher.

How Did I Get Here?

As I sat on the floor of my closet during one of the worst storms I had seen in years, I cried my eyes out in complete bewilderment, confusion, and pain. I couldn’t help but feel used, abandoned, unworthy and unwanted. How could people profess to love me but leave me alone? That was the story I told myself. That was the question I asked myself. But a deeper story and question was begging to be uncovered and answered. How did I get here? Sometime after this stormy evening in September 2011,  I remember having a conversation with an older woman with whom I attended church and to whom I was introduced through my then mother-in-law. She was the friend and co-worker of my soon-to-be ex-mother-in-law. She befriended me when I first arrived at my church in June 2007. In 2008 she invited me to join her in teaching the 7th and 8th grade Sunday school classes. I had no background in teaching Sunday school, nor had I studied the Bible. Fast forward four years later, we were having a conversation following the Sunday sermon, and I mentioned to her that I was having trouble forgiving myself and being forgiven. I was ruminating and pining over my soon-to-be ex-husband and what I could have done differently in our marriage, where we went wrong, where I went wrong, with question after question ad-nauseum. I remember her asking me if I was saved. I was surprised she asked me that because we sat next to each other in church every week, and taught Sunday school together. I don’t remember answering her. She then went on to ask me if I was free to meet her for lunch. She invited me to have lunch at her house. One week later, I arrive at her house. She escorts me to a seat at a large white round table located in her lower level entertainment room. As I pulled out my seat I noticed all of the pictures of her family. It was a beautiful display of her 60+ year marriage and family life. It was a painful reminder of my failure. It was a reminder and extremely lucid conclusion, that we had experienced completely different versions of family, love, and life. As I admired the pictures and inquired about each image, she pulled out a chair from the large white round table, sat down and moved her Bible from the center of the table so we both could see it. As she picked up the Bible to open it, she asked me once again, “Are you saved?” I still don’t remember what I said. But I do remember very vividly what followed next. She asked me “How do you know you’re saved?” I don’t remember answering this question either. However, I remember her opening the bible to the book of Romans Chapter 8 verses 1 through 16 (King James Version). It stated:

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the last might be fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh so mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For is ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”

Listen: “iDemand” from The Closet: Intimate Conversations

As I reflect on the significance of this passage it rings louder today than it did in 2011. This scripture spoke to the wrestle I was having with ruminating over my failed marriage; the hurt and the pain. We then went on to discuss all the emotions I was feeling about my marriage ending. I explained how I felt about my soon-to-be ex-husband’s failure to fight for our marriage. I explained how I felt about falling in love with a married man. I explained how I felt about feeling like a failure because this was my second time having entertained the conversation and complements of another man. I explained how deeply I believed in the married man. I explained to her how much I felt he had touched my heart and “saw me.”  I explained how angry I was to have been so naive. I lamented over the fact that I believed every word this man said without reservation. I expressed my pain over not feeling desired or loved by my soon-to-be-ex-husband. I shared with her my frustrations with failing to honor my marriage vows and save my marriage. I shared how much I still loved my then soon-to-be ex-husband. I asked her so many “why” questions. My heart was searching for answers to the previous 20 years. She then went on to make a statement I will never forget. She said in certain amazement, “You don’t know men, do you?” I said, in a defeated tone of voice “No, I don’t.” I’ve only lived with one man my whole life. This was the most significant male relationship in my life. It was all I really knew.” I remember her saying, “Ah…well, that explains it.” She confirmed, in fact, I was very naive. As I told her the story of my life with my then soon-to-be ex-husband, our struggles, and the contrast in experiences I had with the married man with whom my heart had fallen, she went on to share her own experiences in love and life. I suddenly felt the heaviness of my ignorance and felt not like an adult woman, but a very young child who had just discovered all my Christmas gifts didn’t come from Santa Claus and no tooth fairy quietly lifted my pillow while I slept to leave me two shiny quarters. I indeed felt the gravity of what it meant to be a foolish and naive woman. As I sat in this realization I couldn’t help but feel like I was in a bubble my entire life. Why didn’t I know these things? Why was this news to me? Why hadn’t anyone ever told me their experiences with men like this before? Why did I feel like I had spent my life in the dark and had now entered a new realm of education? After several hours of her uncovering the myths I naively believed, we prayed and I was faced with the question once again, Temika, are you saved? I remember saying in a somber voice, “I thought I was.” At that moment, I realized I was not. Although I was baptized at 8 years old and had gone to church my entire life, I was not a saved woman. Thus, the reason for the pain, the ruminating, the pining, the ignorance, and the ultimate moral falling. That day I accepted the truth. That day was the beginning of what would become an 8-year journey to answer the initial question I asked God on that stormy night in September 2011 while lamenting on the floor of my bedroom closet: “How did I get here?”

When I returned home that evening, I played our conversation over and over in my head, along with all of the realizations that happened during this lunch meeting. I was amazed at how ignorant I was. I was amazed at the depth of the lies I had believed, and the lies I told myself. After sitting on my bed simply pondering all of my emotions, I got up and got on my knees and positioned myself at the edge of my bed and asked God to forgive me for my failures in judgment, wrong actions, wrong thoughts, and wrong ways. I asked God to forgive all of my habitual sins and offenses. I ask God to help my husband forgive me. I asked God to forgive me for participating in foolishness. I asked God to help the two wives whom I had offended with my participation in deceit forgive me. I asked God to help anyone past and present whom I had wronged to forgive me. I asked God to save me.

Shortly thereafter, one night during a dream I saw the words “Psalm 51.” I had read numerous passages from the book of Psalms before, but I didn’t remember having read Psalms 51. Upon waking from the dream, I opened the hot pink study bible that I acquired in 2008 during a trip to Florida to visit my aunt. It caught my eye because of its color and location. I noticed it was laying on the piano in my aunt’s house. My intrigue with this book started with my curiosity in seeing a pink bible, and the instrument on which it was sitting. I thought the idea of a hot pink bible was very cool. However, I was also intrigued by the fact that my little cousin was learning piano, and although I was a vocal musician, I had struggled with learning this instrument and ultimately gave up attempting to learn piano. Returning to my dream, I opened the book to Psalm 51. What I began to read immediately searched the depths of my heart, convinced me, and paved the way to the person I am today. Psalms 51 was God’s answer to my prayer. It was the gateway of true repentance, forgiveness, and healing. After reading Psalms 51, I acknowledged to God that I made a mess of my life because I did not know his ways. I realized that I had merely “heard” about his ways, but did not truly know his ways for myself.  As The Message version states in the book of Job chapter 42 verses 5 through 15, “I admit I once lived by rumors of you; now I have it all firsthand - from my own eyes and ears! I’m sorry - forgive me. I’ll never do that again, I promise! I’ll never again live on crusts of hearsay, crumbs of rumor.” I acknowledged to God that I hurt him, and that realization alone was extremely sobering. From this realization came my true petition, because it came from a sincere contrite heart. Immediately, I made four deeply sincere petitions to God. First, I asked Him to tell me how I had arrived at the place in which I found myself, and I asked God to forgive me for the sin of hurting Him by violating his commands, and I asked God to forgive all of my offenses and help others I’ve wronged to forgive me. And lastly, I asked him to save me. Here’s what Psalm 51 said:

“To the chief Musician, a Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him after he had gone into Bathsheba. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness: according to unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that though mightest be justified when thou speakest and be clear when thou judgest. Behold. I was shaped in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then I will teach transgressors thy ways, and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation; and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it; though delightest, not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and contrite heart, O God, though wilt not despise. Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem. Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.”

Upon reading Psalm 51, I knew God was speaking directly to me. He was answering my prayer. Fast forward to 2015, while I was laying in bed, He gave me the words and vision for this song. It’s called “Oh.”

Listen: “Oh” from The Closet: Intimate Conversations

Three years had passed since the divorce from my college sweetheart. We met during my freshman year while attending the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. I had barely been on campus for two full months before we crossed paths. One night in November, I gave up to him my virginity. I immediately felt the transition. I felt something change in my body and spirit. I remember being in a mild form of shock. I remember I was scheduled to work late that night. I remember going to work that night feeling all kinds of emotions. I didn’t share this with anyone. I kept it to myself for a very long time. I just dealt with my experience alone and quietly. He and I dated on and off over the years and had the usual ups and downs of young adult relationships not founded on everlasting principles. Ironically, after 10 years of on and off dating, we eventually married in 2002. The next 17 years of my life would be the toughest and longest class I ever had. It would take this length of time for me to arrive at the real answer to the question, “How did I get here”?

Listen: “How?” from The Closet: Intimate Conversations

During seven long years of difficult internal work healing from my failed marriage, I was learning more about saving and investing money, working on eliminating debts and ridding my life of unfruitful financial burdens. On January 9, 2015, I was emancipated from my corporate position. It was my freedom day. I was finally debt free, had a nice stash to sustain me for a while, and I was finally free to make choices based on what I wanted most out of life; congruency. I had no idea where life was heading, but every cell of my being knew it was time to leave. It was time to rest. I had spent the last 23 years grinding “to become” someone. Up until this point I had spent my life navigating being a married woman, doing my best to have a successful life, helping care for my ailing grandmother, healing from my past mistakes, and driving hard advocating for my dreams. I was doing my best to become a successful artist and songwriter. During this time in 2011 is where the married man who stole my heart entered the picture. He introduced himself by visiting my cubicle bearing gifts; he brought donuts. I loved Old Fashioned Dunkin Donuts. At first, I said “No, thanks. I’m good.” But as he walked away I noticed something oddly unique about him. It was something in his demeanor that lowered my defenses. I asked him “So, what church do you go to.” He smiled and said I actually go to a Baptist church in Virginia. That was the end of the chat, and I went back to work. Over time I started to see him more frequently near my cubicle area. We started to converse more and more about different topics. I really enjoyed talking to him. We talked about faith, my dreams, his dreams, my music, his business, and life. One day he invited me to lunch. I declined. All I could remember was the encounter I had experienced previously when conversing with a married man in 2008 while I was working at a national media company. That encounter led me down the wrong path. I opened a door by sharing with this man my frustrations with life and my dreams. When I allowed myself to be vulnerable with a man that was not my husband, I created an entryway for a deceptive spirit to enter my life. When I realized I was in an emotionally dangerous place, I called my husband on the phone and told him that I felt very vulnerable and that I needed his help; I needed my husband in the most desperate way.  I needed him to rescue me from my emotions.  I remember this day well. It was a Friday on the weekend of our 7th wedding anniversary. At that moment, I felt like I had made a terrible fool of myself being this transparent with my husband. I was taking a risk. I was hoping that by creating transparency in our relationship it would heal the emptiness I felt in of our marriage. When I shared my feelings, all he could ask me was “Did you sleep with him?” He then went on to ask me, “Would you tell me if you did sleep with him?” I answered him, “No,  I did not sleep with him, and yes, I would tell you.” I didn’t want to lie to my husband. However, during that conversation it became apparent I was crying out for help to the wrong person.” I then reached out to my mother-in-law for help. She told me “you can’t tell a man everything; they can’t handle it.” After sharing what I felt, I never felt more alone. Had I known what I know today, I would have went to my prayer closet, sat on the floor in quiet and stillness, and prayed to God for wisdom, asked God to help me see and handle the issues in a way that would honor God, help my husband “hear me”, heal our hearts, help show us how to forgive each other for not meeting each other’s expectations, show us how to love each other, and heal our marriage.” Instead, unbeknownst to me, the process of unraveling my marriage, unraveling the choice I made at 18 years old to make a covenant with this man had already begun. After I pulled myself from the memory of that first encounter, I proceeded to be very honest with this man with whom I had come to enjoy conversing. I told him about my previous encounter and that I felt it was best to not go to lunch with one another. However, I didn’t realize at the time, my disclosure was the trigger for a pursuit to ensue. This man began to pursue me as I had never been pursued before. It was foreign to me. I never received flowers from my husband.  I never heard my husband say I was beautiful. I never saw or felt my husband’s love for me when I looked into his eyes. My husband didn’t enjoy me touching him or holding his hand. I never had someone listen so attentively to my conversation. I never experienced what felt like a great friendship, companionship, commonality, gentleness, concern, and emotional intimacy wrapped up in one person. He had become the dream I didn’t know I was dreaming. From that moment, I knew I could no longer go back to living the way I had lived with my husband. The truth that my relationship and marriage were built on a lie I believed as an 18-year-old was staring me in the face. Truth is resolute. The fact that this was the second encounter I had while married was too much for my soul to carry. I came home and told my husband that I felt very angry that I was feeling these emotions and was extremely frustrated with myself for being in this position once again. I told him I didn’t want want to cheat on him. So, I asked my husband for a divorce. After separating, and processing my hurt, I did my best to create a transparent dialogue with my husband. I disclosed my sin. But when I asked him was he prepared to do the same with me. He declined and stated, “What I’ve done is between me and God, and what you’ve done is between you and God. You could have kept that information to yourself. I didn’t need to know.” It was clear to me we had reached the end. I tried for a year thereafter, with everything in me to fight for our marriage. But I was the only one fighting. Our 20-year life together ended on November 8, 2012. And the truth about the man whom I thought had become the dream I didn’t know I was dreaming, was actually a superbly created vehicle to steal, kill, and destroy my life; my future. Turns out, the wife he told me no longer wanted him was a lie; a very big lie that I believed. The truth of the matter was revealed when his wife called me one afternoon from his cell phone. I answered the phone, even though by this time our relationship had ended. After she made some accusatory statements, I asked her if she would put him on the phone?” When I heard his voice in the background tell his wife to “Hang up the phone,” I realized I had been set-up. I was in a cleverly crafted sting by an adversarial spirit to take me down. But that spirit was granted access because of the unresolved issues that were residing in me. There were entryways in my life that were wide open for wrong spirits to enter and wreak havoc. Evil is any violation of The Creator’s purposes. Evil is a spirit. Shame is a spirit. Guilt is a spirit. Silence is a spirit. Ignorance is a spirit. Naivety is a spirit. Lust is a spirit, and so is rejection.

“When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, seeking rest but finding none. Then it says, ‘I will return to the person I came from.’ So it returns and finds its former home empty, swept, and in order. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before. That will be the experience of this evil generation.”

Matthew 12:43-45 New Living Translation

Listen: “Can’t Take It Away” from The Closet: Intimate Conversations

On January 12, 2015, at 8:00 in the morning I received in my spirit the words to the song “Every Word.” By 8:30 am the song was complete. I had no clue of its magnitude. It turned out the words to this song came directly from the book of Deuteronomy chapter 8 verse 3, Matthew chapter 4 verse 4, and Luke chapter 4 verse 4. These three passages served as witnesses leading me out of the place where I had worked for almost five years, and it marked the end of a season and the beginning of a new one. These passages echo the words of the song. “[We do] not live on bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” God was giving me instructions through song. As the year progressed I developed a thirst to read scripture like never before. I embarked upon reading the entire Bible in one year. During this time He began to reveal His words to me in songs, prayers, and many dreams. This is the first song God gave me after I resigned from my corporate job on January 9, 2015. It’s called “Every Word.”

In the Spring of 2016, I moved to an apartment that I loved. It was the perfect place for me. 825 square feet of peace and serenity. I enjoyed everything about this sanctuary I had created, even my closet. One day as I was entering my closet to get dressed, I noticed I was consistently hearing melodies and song lyrics each time I entered my closet to get dressed. I thought to myself “What is it about this closet? Where are these melodies and lyrics coming from? So, one day I decided to simply sit on my closet floor and enjoy sitting in this space. It was quiet. It was peaceful. It was comfortable. It was private. It was calm. I could hear so clearly when I was in this space. I heard words as clearly as I am speaking to you today. As I looked at my shoes sitting in shoe boxes on the top shelf lifted above my clothes, I heard the words “the name of the next cd project will be “The Closet: Intimate Conversations.” This revelation blew me away. I had not planned on writing another album. After I wrote the song, “Every Word” I was simply taking each day, moment by moment with no definite plans. I was still relishing in the slower pace of not being on the grind, and sitting in Washington, DC traffic, and loving the beauty of how the Every Word song came to me. I felt like I had crossed a milestone in my personal and professional development by writing these songs. More and more, as I entered the sanctuary of my closet, I was simply enjoying this level and flow of creativity. I was finally getting to create music without constraints. I was beginning to live what I had prayed for; congruence and to experience writing impactful and effective songs. God was confirming His words spoken to me. One day during my commitment to read the Bible in one year, I was divinely lead to the book of Deuteronomy chapter 31 verse 19. Here’s what it said:

“Now, therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it to the children of Israel; put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.”

Within three years, my life would come full circle carrying its purpose, and this would be confirmed while discovering these words in the book of Matthew chapter 18 verse 16, which states:

“But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.”

In May of 2015, I was invited to a Links scholarship luncheon. At this luncheon, a tall middle-aged man struck up a conversation with me which led to us discussing the pursuit of dreams. I had made it very clear up front I was not interested in any relationships romantic or otherwise as my experiences had revealed to me men and women could not simply be friends. However, at his suggestion, I took a chance at entertaining simply being associates. Somehow our conversations became a place in which I would pour out the words of my heart about my music career frustrations, my questions about men, and every struggle I had experienced. He had become a confidant. I came to trust his voice and counsel. He claimed to be a “believer” and had held ministerial positions in a few local churches. I discovered that he served as a minister at the church I attended when I first arrived in Maryland. But I didn’t remember him. However, we found out we had many people in common. Fast forward to March 8, 2016, it’s the official release day for my fifth music project, “The Closet: Intimate Conversations.” By this time both he and I were good friends, working together as a team to help get the word out about my new project. Shortly, thereafter midway through the cd launch marketing activities, I had reached a point where I could not go any further in my music career. Burnout had reached its apex. After canceling a show having one of the biggest fee guarantees of my career, I simply walked away from my music career. I couldn’t continue doing what I had done for the past 18 years of my career. I couldn’t promote another concert. I couldn’t explain to another concert promoter why I hadn’t sold a certain amount of tickets by a certain date. I couldn’t bring myself to fund another concert, get on another stage, or do any more marketing efforts to promote “me and my music.” The music industry grind had become empty, and it wasn’t enough for me…anymore. I remember the day I asked God, “Is this it?” Is this what I’ve been striving for the past 18 years?” After my last scheduled performance date, I stopped all marketing efforts on the new music project and stopped booking dates. I closed up shop and decided I was going to be “normal.” I decided I was going to buy a little one level rancher house, maybe no larger than 1,000 square feet, grow tomatoes in my backyard, and find a job that was within 20 minutes commute of my house. So I packed up and moved to Mooresville, a quaint town outside of the Charlotte, NC area, where I was going to begin my new dream of being “normal.”

I reveled in the idea of starting my life over and finally enjoying the simple things in life. After a few months of enjoying “normal” bliss with absolutely no concerns or cares about being an artist, I realized I was enjoying not becoming, but simply being. I had an amazing time having long philosophical conversations with my childhood friend sitting on her porch sipping a glass of red wine while reminiscing about days at the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts working “to become” the next Envogue. Coincidently, the man that I had met a year earlier who had become my friend, confidant and business colleague started traveling from the Washington, DC metropolitan area to visit his oldest daughter who was attending UNC Charlotte. During his visits to see his daughter, he would also visit me and we’d continue conversing as we had done when I was living the Washington, DC metro area. Fast forward to September 2016 during my first visit back to Maryland since I had left to start my life over in North Carolina three months earlier, he surprised me with a marriage proposal accompanied by an engagement ring. My friend asked me to marry him. My initial response was a triple round of apprehensive “I don’t know what to say, I don’t know what to say, I don’t know what to say” followed by “Am I ready?” The next words I heard him say were “Yes, you’re ready.” That was the beginning of what would become a major season of divine correction, and what would be the revelation of what I would come to know as my “Exodus” experience. One would suspect after I hesitantly accepted his marriage proposal that this hesitance would be a clue to the condition of my heart. My experience was such that I didn’t have a reference point. It was unexpected. This proposal genuinely felt like this man wanted to love me even though I was uncertain. I reasoned that this was probably a good thing, as this time I was getting married to a “godly” man. Upon accepting the offer I felt an urgency to get away. I felt overwhelmed and gave the engagement ring back to him while I processed this offer. The next night during a dream I saw two rings appear on my ring finger; one was a gold wedding band and one was an engagement ring with no stone in the setting. I then heard the words as clear as I am speaking to you today, “Temika, you are broken and you need help.” I awoke from the dream puzzled. I called my “quasi-fiancé” and told him about the dream. I remember telling him “I can usually hear. But for some reason, I can’t hear. I don’t know why I can’t hear.” I remember feeling nothing but confusion in my head. I remember it vividly. He said “You know what to do. The Lord told you to get married.” As I mentioned before, he had become my confidant. We talked about everything so open and freely with full transparency. Up until this time I believed it was an honest, free and transparent friendship. Therefore, I felt no reservation bringing my uncertainty to his attention. He had become the voice inside my head. He had become a dealer of assurance, and I’d soon find out how false that assurance was. Following our conversation, I decided to move forward and wear the ring. I was now engaged.

Eleven months later I found myself in Delaware at my mother’s dining room table preparing to file divorce papers pro se. This is what it’s called when you represent yourself in legal proceedings. I sat at the table reliving the memories of what felt like a nightmare to which I had unknowingly entered. I realized I had entered a new unveiling of naivety. I also realized I had entered into a season of divine correction. I sincerely thought I had dealt with the spirit of naivety and was cured. I even thought I had fully dealt with all of the emotions of my previous marriage ending. Absolutely not! I had only uncovered the surface of the way in which I lived in naivety and ignorance, and the choice to marry this man was the door by which I would enter the “narrow gate.” Did you know people can witness you making a choice they feel is not wise and with clear conscience still remain silent? Yup, it’s plausible and it happened to me. After everything was said and done, I discovered many friends, family members, and colleagues wanted to speak up against this marriage, but remained silent. But the person whom I wished would have spoken up, never did. I should have known it was an omen when we discovered at the wedding reception that my ex-mother-in-law, and my new husband's parents were longtime friends and were all seated at the same table! My past and present were sitting together at a large white round table in a small room. And, on November 11, 2016, it became clear my brokenness was on display for everyone to see.

Over the next 22 months, I would  uncover more answers to the question I asked on that stormy night in September 2011, “How did I get here?” By January 2019, my life had come full circle. Suddenly, my earliest childhood memories combined with events of the last 27 years had been unearthed. I was forced to face every unpleasant moment, every unpleasant memory, every hurt, every pain, every wound, every wrong thought, every wrong action, every deception accepted and committed; every offense done and received in my body. This experience led me to the unadulterated, unfiltered, raw, transparent truth about my life. I was now being challenged to hang my sins on a “cross” for everyone to see; just like Yeshua/Jesus. The “how” was being played out on the movie screen of my mind’s memories. What I had uncovered is that unclean spirits and the spirit of rejection had been running rampant in my life since I was a little girl growing up in Philadelphia. That pattern began way before I was aware of a spiritual agenda to kill, steal and destroy my future; my promise. Just like me, you may have experienced things that were incongruent to your true needs and desires and you never said anything. You’ve kept silent. You have never spoken up for yourself just like I failed to do at pivotal points in my life. The spirit of rejection is what was at the root of the silence that I nursed for most of my life. I would incur wounds, experience inherently unacceptable or uncomfortable situations, but I wouldn’t speak up.

I didn’t speak up. I didn’t speak up. I didn’t speak up when I was inappropriately touched when I was a little girl. I didn’t speak up when I got bitten by a Doberman Pincher on the way to school. I went to school with black and blue bruises on my right leg and a torn skirt and never said a word. I just kept it moving. I didn’t speak up about the lack of relationship with my father. I didn’t speak up when my boyfriend stood me up for junior prom. I didn’t speak up when I experienced things with young men that felt uncomfortable. I didn’t speak up when I saw red flags. I didn’t speak up when I experienced situations that revealed there was deception and when I witnessed dysfunction. I didn’t speak up when I realized others withheld the truth from me thereby robbing me of the right to make a different choice. I didn’t speak up when I realized I was conceived in ignorance and deception. I didn’t speak up when I witnessed and experienced abuse. I didn’t speak up when I experienced my own moral and character failures. I have asked for forgiveness for the parts I played in other people’s experiences. I have forgiven others for the parts they played in my experiences. I have asked The Creator of All Truth to help me forgiven myself. I AM has helped me to see all offenses through the same lens by which I AM has forgiven me - mercy. I am not judging anyone. Neither am I’m pointing fingers or blaming anyone. Sin is sin, no matter what forms it takes, and in whom it is revealed. I don’t blame anyone for my experiences because I know all forms of darkness originate from one place. I am removing the spirit of darkness from its throne. I am taking away the power the spirit of darkness has tried to wield over my life and the lives of those I love. I’ve spent my life silencing my voice, and because of it, I didn’t speak up. I didn’t speak up. I didn’t speak up. I acknowledge the truth in others. I honor the truth in me. We are connected; sin affects everyone. Don't compartmentalize it. Extinguish it with light. I hear these words reverberate in my mind, “remain committed to light even in the face of insurmountable threats and darkness.”

Today, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heaven is an elevated, high, and lifted-up state of being. God’s words are true and just. God, my heavenly Father pursued me from my mother’s womb, and He is pursuing you today by way of me being sent to speak to you. I believe I was sent here to speak to you from the pilgrimage of my Exodus experience. It has been a 44-year journey to know the true and living creator. The Creator showed me my path(ology). Pathology is the study of the cause and effect of the disease. My pathology revealed ignorance, low self-esteem, low self-worth, confusion, abandonment, rejection, incongruence, settling for less than genuine desires, unequally yoked marriages, forbidden, and inappropriate relationships. This knowledge provided insight into how I came to make the choices I made. In the words of a modern-day sacrificial teacher, Iyanla Vanzant, “I have done my work, and I will continue to do my work.” Because of this, the Creator and all of the sacrificial teachers He has placed on this earth including Yeshua/Jesus desires that “all come into the knowledge of The Truth,” (1 Timothy 2:4) and “[when The Truth] sets you free, you are free indeed.” (John 8:32) I believe, I too have been called to be a sacrificial teacher and speaker. I am ordained by the proclamation of a king. King David states in Psalm chapter 51 verse 13, “I will teach [offenders] [your] ways; and [offenders] shall be [restored].” The Hebrew word for David means loving. The King is The Most High God. The King is also a father. A father is loving. God is my Heavenly Father, and I am his daughter. You are also a daughter of the King if you walk and live in his ways.

“And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.”

Ezekiel 36:27 King James Version

Daughters, in the same manner as sons, you are also teachers. You are also builders of the family name. You are also the village. You are also the nation. You are the apple of His eye. You are also the first. You are also the repairers. You are also children of the King, just like the sons. Therefore, you are also co-creators and joint-heirs of the promise given to God’s people long ago. God’s people are people pursuing God’s true heart and character, and desiring to create his kingdom of light in the world. I am the first born of my family. I am the first in my family to attend and graduate from college, and with honors. I am the first to take the risks in my career that I’ve taken. I am the first in my family to start a business. I am the first of my family to be set free by The Truth. However, I will not be the last. I am reminded of the mother and daughter experiences detailed in the book of Ruth. Naomi, Orpah, and Ruth are teachers. Naomi is the mother-in-law. Ruth and Orpah are the daughters-in-law. Orpah and Ruth are women with incestuous family roots. These women originated from a land called Moab which was inhabited by the descendants of Lot, Abraham’s nephew. Lot’s daughters were unmarried and decided they didn’t want the family name to die, so they devised a plan to become impregnated by their father. The children from this incestuous encounter are the descendants of Moab. Naomi, Orpah, and Ruth became widows during a famine and were in dire need of shelter and provision. A famine is a hungering for provision. Naomi was not a native of the land in which she was residing. However, her daughters-in-law were natives. Naomi’s husband brought her to Moab from Bethlehem-Judah. This city was also known as the “City of David.” While residing in this foreign land, Naomi's sons married Orpah and Ruth. Bethlehem is the Hebrew word meaning “house of bread or house of food.” Naomi and her husband left their birthplace hungering and seeking because of a famine. When you seek provision in the wrong places, things will die, and you will lose your security. Naomi, Orpah, and Ruth survived the famine. However, their husbands did not survive the famine. Although these women survived, they were now left with new responsibilities. They would need to figure out how to provide for themselves. Following the death of their husbands, Naomi desired to return to her birthplace; the place of her husband’s family, Bethlehem-Judah. Naomi presented Orpah and Ruth with a choice; to either stay in this land and return to their families or seek to find a husband that would provide for them. Orpah decided to stay in this land and return to her family. Ruth decided she would return to Bethlehem-Judah with Naomi and live among Naomi's people. Ruth decided to leave the land of Moab, the land of an inappropriate upbringing, choosing to learn a new way of life. Naomi taught Ruth the ways of living in among her people. Naomi taught Ruth how to live as a woman who would later be redeemed by a man who was a relative of Naomi's husband. This man in the Jewish Levirate tradition is called a Kinsman Redeemer. The kinsman redeemer is a male relative who is responsible for delivering, rescuing, and or redeeming someone, or redeeming the family property in distress. In the book of Ruth, the kinsman redeemer is Boaz.

Boaz was a wealthy gentleman with a strong sense of leadership and manhood, and who was well equipped and prepared to take on the responsibilities of a wife. Naomi’s admonition to Ruth was for her to go wash, put on new clothes, and get close to this man that would redeem her; close enough for his experiences to transfer to her. She was also instructed to put on a covering and remain cloaked until she had completely consumed the food she needed to eat to enter into the Redeemer's presence. Upon Ruth following this instruction, she would ultimately uncover the mystery of this man’s journey. In turn, this man; the redeemer, would then disclose to her additional information on what she needed to do next. Once Ruth made herself known to this man, she acknowledged his position as a redeemer and asked him to provide for her. Boaz “saw her.” He acknowledged her as a daughter of the King! He noticed that she was kinder at this position in her life. He noticed that she did not chase after men, whether young, poor or rich. Therefore, he promised and assured her not to be fearful and that he would do all that is required for her because he was aware that everyone saw her as a virtuous woman; a woman of power, wealth, substance, ability, and worth. Because of this, Boaz knew he had to act quickly to put things in order. He made a promise and he worked quickly and diligently to keep it. Until such time Boaz was able to make good on his promise to Ruth, they continued to spend time with each other. However, Boaz took on the responsibility to protect her position, purity, dignity, worth, image and respect. He remained diligent while he worked to make good on his promise by making sure Ruth did not return home to Naomi empty-handed. Boaz made sure to send provision for both Ruth and her teacher, Naomi. In keeping with the nature of a teacher, Naomi provided yet another instruction to Ruth. She instructed her to wait; reminding her to be patient while Boaz makes good on his promise to redeem her. Before Boaz could finalize his plans, he visits the council of elders to handle the business of redemption. He was even willing to step aside to allow another redeemer to come forth if capable to provide for Ruth and Naomi. During ancient times, as custom would have it if a redeemer was going to make good on a promise he was required to take off his shoe and give it to his neighbor. This was visible proof that someone else was connected to his promise. This act served as a witness to accountability. When the time was right, Boaz publicly announced his intention to marry Ruth. In the midst of this announcement, he even acknowledged her deceased husband in the fact that he was taking Ruth to be his wife, and although her former husband was dead, his name would not be defamed. Everyone who was present became witnesses to Boaz’s intention and prayer. He prayed to God for Ruth to dwell in his house like the daughters that came before her who built a prosperous family under God’s instructions. When Boaz and Ruth joined together in agreement to live as redeemer and wife, they became a famous pair. Boaz first made a private agreement with Ruth to be her Redeemer, followed by a public agreement to be her redeemer. Together, Boaz, Ruth, Naomi and the community created a safe place for Boaz and Ruth to birth the beginning of a new lineage out of which royalty would reign. Boaz restored more than Ruth’s life. He also restored Naomi’s life; her teacher. Naomi became a grandmother to Boaz’s and Ruth’s first-born son named Obed. In ancient times, firstborn sons were deemed more valuable than daughters. Also, naming a child was very important. A name represented identity; character. The Hebrew name for Obed means serving. Ruth became more important than the value of seven sons. Ruth birthed the character of serving.

The woman who invited me to lunch and sat down with me, walked me through Romans chapter 8, let me share my greatest disappointments and hurts, and who reciprocated by sharing her greatest disappointments and failures became my Naomi. Through the illustration of the book of Ruth and my own experiences, the power of the Holy Spirit revealed to me that my mother’s brokenness represents the broken obligations of the law. Through the experience of reaching out to my mother-in-law at my most vulnerable point, I was shown that experience represents the lack of power the law has to permanently change a situation. Through my spiritual mother, I was shown how the provision and plans of God are sovereign. His spirit will not fail to do the heavy lifting of setting captives free. The day my spiritual mother was used as a conduit to remove the veil of deception, and open my eyes, she became my mother-in-covenant, and she passed the baton to me. However, I wouldn’t be prepared to take hold of that baton for another 8 years in the year 2019.

Naomi was a teacher. Ruth was a woman living outside of the covenant promise. My spiritual mother was a teacher. I was a woman living outside of the covenant promise. Boaz was a relative of Naomi’s husband. Naomi was the key to Ruth’s new life of redemption. My spiritual mother was the key to my new life of redemption. Boaz represents a sacrificial redeemer.  Boaz, like Adam, was required to give up something to obtain a wife. Adam gave up one of his ribs for Eve. A rib is a vital organ. Boaz gave up his shoe for Ruth. Boaz is a visible reminder of how much it costs to redeem valuables. Walking around with one shoe took courage. It meant he could afford the redemption price. Ruth was worthy of this sacrifice, and he paid the price willingly.

Daughters of Naomi get into position to birth the character of serving; serving the lineage of a king that is gentle, overtly loving, and from whose wisdom all nations will benefit. Accept and embrace your abilities, ready and prepared to serve The King and his kingdom. Rest in the assurance of a king who is fully equipped to handle your past, heal you, and love you completely.

Let us receive and celebrate the love of the Kinsman Redeemer.
